So poor Ovi gets shipped out of DC, where despite playoff failings of the Caps, he's mostly loved and given pass by fans. As a DC born person and life long Caps fan, I'll admit DC has not always had great hockey fans. But it is a mostly non-confrontational mass of folks.

And he ends up in Montreal...where the slightest misstep will have angry mobs with pitchforks and torches ready to burn him at the stake....

Despite the blockbuster nature and mild pass at equity in this trade, I'd say a) nothing like this will ever happen in the NHL again due to the salary cap and the way owners / GMs run teams these days (in mostly micro-moves), and b) I doubt Ovi would want to play in MTL...if fact I can say no way he'd want to play there...

But alas...I won't hate on his idea because if the Caps ever have to truly blow it all up, what happens will happen.

Montreal fans shouldn't expect the same production out of OV in Montreal. Backstrom or Kutz ain't there to feeding him passes.
