Description
This is the top 15 only. Later I will post the whole first round.
ROUND 1TEAMORIGINALPLAYERDETAILS
Logo of the New York Rangers-There is a clear difference between who is better between Laf and Byfield. Laf is the obvious choice.
Logo of the Los Angeles Kings-Byfield has the tools to become a franchise player. In the future, he will be the next Kopitar.
Logo of the Ottawa SenatorsLogo of the San Jose SharksAnother easy pick. Stutzle is clearly the best player available.
Logo of the Detroit Red Wings-I love that the Red Wings picked Raymond. At one point during the season Raymond was projected to go No. 3 ahead of Stutzle. Within a few years, Raymond could become Detroit's best forward.
Logo of the Ottawa Senators-Before the draft, Dorion had three players in mind: Sanderson, Quinn, and Askarov. I agree with the Senators picking Sanderson.
Logo of the Anaheim Ducks-Anaheim clearly needed defense, and they got it by selecting the best defenseman in the draft.
Logo of the New Jersey Devils-I also like the pick of Holtz. He can be the replacement of Hall, both players play similar to each other.
Logo of the Buffalo Sabres-Sorry Sabres fan, but I like this pick. Eichel really needs a sniper of the future, and Quinn can become just that.
Logo of the Minnesota Wild-Here's where I start disagreeing. Rossi is the biggest boom or bust in this draft because of the size. Scouts say that because of Lundell's two-way game, he could make the NHL next year.
Logo of the Winnipeg Jets-I agree with this pick. Once again, Rossi is a boom or bust. Perfetti has the skating issues, but he is also the most creative player in the draft.
Logo of the Nashville Predators-I disagree with this pick. Saros proved that he is a decent starting goalie. The Predators need a guy that can fix their scoring issues, and that is Jarvis.
Logo of the Florida Panthers-There is no way Rossi falls any lower.
Logo of the Carolina HurricanesLogo of the Toronto Maple LeafsThe Hurricanes immediately get their future tendy.
Logo of the Edmonton Oilers-I like the pick of Holloway. He can definitely fix the Oilers forward depth in the future.
Logo of the Toronto Maple LeafsLogo of the Pittsburgh PenguinsDubas said before the draft that he will take the best player available. I disagree with picking Amirov, the Maple Leafs should have picked Mercer.
Logo of the Montreal Canadiens-
Logo of the Chicago Blackhawks-
Logo of the New Jersey DevilsLogo of the Arizona Coyotes
Logo of the New York RangersLogo of the Calgary Flames
Logo of the New Jersey DevilsLogo of the Vancouver Canucks
Logo of the Columbus Blue Jackets-
Logo of the Washington CapitalsLogo of the Carolina Hurricanes
Logo of the Philadelphia Flyers-
Logo of the Calgary FlamesLogo of the Washington Capitals
Logo of the Colorado Avalanche-
Logo of the St. Louis Blues-
Logo of the Anaheim DucksLogo of the Boston Bruins
Logo of the Ottawa SenatorsLogo of the New York Islanders
Logo of the Vegas Golden Knights-
Logo of the Dallas Stars-
Logo of the San Jose SharksLogo of the Tampa Bay Lightning

-Lundell: Agreed 100%. Honestly, if the Ducks (I'm a Ducks fan) hadn't got Drysdale, I was hoping they'd be between Holtz or Lundell. Maybe Lundell doesn't profile as huge point guy long term, but I think he's got a chance to be a Barkov-lite.
-Jarvis/Askarov: I disagree. Askarov is putting up elite numbers in the second best league in the world. If Saros is the answer long-term in Nashville, Askarov becomes the biggest trade chip in the league. Jarvis certainly has offensive upside, but the main reason Nashville's offence is stagnant isn't because of lack of talent, it's because the system that they play doesn't promote offence.
-Rossi/Quinn: I think I'm more sold on Rossi than Quinn. Quinn is likely closer to the league than Rossi, but Rossi *should* have a bigger long term impact.
-Mercer/Amirov: There was a handful of players that could have been taken here, most of whom were all in the same tier. Any of Amirov, Mercer, Lapierre or Zary would have been fine picks.
