shockingly i didnt draft D this year in the first 2 rounds . Tkchuck is going to breathe life into our stale offense and fits CJ style ,

the first two second rounders are players i watched in QMJHL i know would fit into Laval's development system well

the last two second picks are calculated gambles. Sutter could never make the NHL more then as a call up or regular on a bottom feeding team like chris terry and Emberson is a 4 year wait to see if he even signs with MTL

I don't understand why people keep mocking Bouchard down near #30. He's a top-5 defenseman in this draft. He doesn't drop below 15.

because not every team wants D you have to look at the needs .
EVERY year D drop past their projected spots outside the top 10 .

Remember the Drama around Chyckrn ?
in this case many other D have stepped up and increased their spot in the draft.

as of christmas you're right bouchard is top top 5 D in this draft
but as of right now with most of these guys post seasons done and some waiting for a memorial cup run
they've increased their value

that being said could i have had him go higher then Dobson , sure
but i honestly dont see Dallas passing up on a big skilled lad like Dobson
(who is called Mature beyond his years and one of the Few guys with a Pro attitude in junior )

incase you missed it Bouchard's team was swept in an embarrasing series similar to LAK vs VGK and his rankings have been dropping as
others have stepped up and thrived in the playoffs like Dobson who has been a key part in his team being in the conference finals right now in his league .


if a player chokes like Bouchard did teams will look to the guys 10-15 spots behind him if they are leading their team in the post season to victory.
sure its different if your a top 5 pick ranked in a concensus like Boqvist but with guys like Smith and Hughes shining for example they've gotten a lot of late season attention

in the end you can have a really great regular season but if you cant even contribute to a win in the post season you'll be looked at more harshly
right now if Dobson can keep things going he could finish top 10
