Recognizing he has gone through a ton of adversity this season - and had his share of ups and downs - his game at the OHL level has been uneven overall.
There are nights he plays a quick - fast - offensive game. There are also nights he isn't starting on time and takes several shifts to get into the game. His defensive detail is below standard for his ability. Far too often he is following the play instead of stopping on pucks and engaging his check. His overall compete and detail, despite his stats, has not been consistent over the full sixty minutes. He's being used in all situations with OHL Windsor. (6G on PP) (9G ES

Wright needs time to adjust to the NHL game
Skating is sound. Plenty quick and fast enough
Off the puck detail has been slow to adjust. He has had some difficulty tracking back and identifying properly in his zone.
Offensively he has been hectic and chased the play more than he has had the puck on his stick. Loads of upside and potential to be used in all situations at NHL level. Needs time.

His body of work has some trends that need to be recognized.
Being used in all situations. Crafty player in small areas. Drives his line. Pucks go through him on the PP. His off the puck play / back check energy and detail / has fallen off. This is a high end player who is feeling the pressure of being #1 overall. Output has not gone to another level offensively. More playmaker than shooter.
Averages 2 pts per game on home ice. On the road (when match ups are more difficult) he is averaging 0.73 pts per game. 33% of his goals come on the PP. Face-off % = 50%

Checks all the boxes to some degree. Not exceptional in any one category but very good in most. Good size. Powerful. Quick. Fast in transition. Sees the ice. Really good stick / puck touch. His best shift is elite. Extremely dangerous on the PP. Aware in all three zones. He's a responsible player who produces offensively.
There are times in the game that I'm looking for him more than I should have too.
Should stand out, some nights, more than he does.
