I agree, too much for Hertl.
Asplund may allow the Sabres to save some cap by not signing one of Larsson or Girgensons, and Lazar may take the place of the other
Mittelstadt I have not been impressed with him since I watched him disappear in the prospect challenge two years ago, but I agree, he is too young to give up on yet.
Okposo only Sam had more pts/min among our RW, he could our sleeper as the #2 RW with a more talented center and LW,
Samuelsson I am not sure if he is top 4, but he is certainly pegged to play in the NHL.
I am not giving away our pick from this year.
The future is brighter than most Sabre fans on this site believe.
Thompson got hurt after playing well in the prospect challenge, last years play off and in the AHL. Big players take longer to develop (remember this when bashing Ristolainen).
If Mittelstadt can find his game, he would be at least a 3rd line center.
Cozens appears to be the real deal, so we are a year away from having our #2 center IMO.
Our line up in 2021-2022 could easily be:
Olofsson Eichel Reinhart
Skinner Cozens first from 2020
Thompson Mittelstadt Okposo
Asplund Lazar Pekar.
I think Botterill would add a player with play off experience (look how many he added his first year, but the team did not respond).
Plus we have solid defense assets that could be traded this year or next and there are teams looking to move #2 centers, Stastny is the first one that comes to mind.
If the Sabres traded for Hertl they would be harming their future for the hopes of making the playoffs this year.
(I think we went down this road already with Murray and where did that lead us).
I say no to that deal, even if is a fair exchange of assets.
