My take on the 24 worst contracts in the league
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>evelutions2</b></div><div>Hayes probably should, but Deslauriers should probably be an honorable mention. As for JVR, the 7mil isn’t ideal, but he still is very capable of putting up 25-30 goals, not to mention he only has 1 year on his deal remaining, so it’s not that bad.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Levig01</b></div><div>Deslauriers, Hayes, JVR should all be on here</div></div>
I tried keeping 1 year deals off the list cause they're usually way more manageable and tradable than deals with term. I'd rather have to trade JVR with 1 year left than Anderson with 5 years left for example if i need to retain salary or get out of a cap crunch. So evelution absolutely 100% correct imo!

My take on the 24 worst contracts in the league
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>evelutions2</b></div><div>If we are adding some advanced statistics into this, KK shouldn’t be on this list. If I remember correctly, his points per 60 was one of the league’s best, and was better than was one of the leagues best forwards, one Nathan Mackinnon. The 6.1 from last year, was bad, but that was only to get him away from MTL. Not to mention, he was on pace to put up career highs in points playing in a much diminished role than he did in MTL. But I guess this year will be the make it or break it year, especially with KK having the opportunity to play as the 2C with better linemates than Lorentz and Martinook, who aren’t exactly known for their offense.
As for Nuke, I was predicting he was going to get 7mil, so my bet is that his contract will be a steal. I also am a big Grubauer defender, and given that it was the Kraken’s first year, I don’t think it’s fair yet to call Grubauer one of the worst contracts. He didn’t have a good year, but that could also be chalked up to new team and new teammates. It would be more fair to judge him on this year as there would be more familiarity with the rest of his team and coach, and my guess is that he will turn out like Markstrom did in his second year with Calgary, because for those who have forgotten, Markstrom was terrible his first year with Calgary. But that is for time to tell I guess.</div></div>
I believe that KK's term is way too long for what he's accomplished. He also played with Aho and Teuvo or Trocheck & Teuvo for the first 20-25 games of the season, and he played a fair share of games with Necas as well, so i'm not really buying into the Lorentz and Martinook argument. It's not like he was dumped on the 3rd line from the get go. In fact, only on 4 of his 12 goals last season was he primarily assisted by a bottom 6 forward, while the other 8 goals were assisted by defensemen or top 6 forwards. As for KK's assists, only 3 out of his 7 primary assists were to someone who'd be classified as a bottom 6 forward. So again, not like he was scraping the bottom of the barrel all season long.
Grubauer was horrible. If you like advanced stats, go look up his WAR and his Goals saved above expected. Even Arizona's goalie Vejmelka was better with close to the same amount of games played. I get that it was a new team but a lot of goalies transitions to new teams without stinking up the joint like he has.

While that is true, he got that contract because he had a career year if you ask me. I think it's too much of a gamble and will end up being a mistake. However like i admitted above, i don't watch too many Avs games and i might be misevaluating his value! Maybe he should've been left as an honorable mention and given at least this year to prove he's worth it!

I agree that their contracts are awful, but i tried not putting any 1 year deals since they're usually a LOT more manageable and tradable than players with term. Both of them can go in the honorable mentions though! :)

He played next to Kadri who had a career year. If Nichushkin puts up the same numbers next year i'll buy his jersey. I will admit that i don't watch an awful lot of Avs games so i could be wrong / misevaluating him!

That's a fair assessment! I just think his long term warrants his entry here. Had it been only 2 or maybe even 3 years he wouldn't touch this list!

That would be fair and i thought about it. He's just a little bit more worth his money compared to the rest of the forwards on the list in my opinion. Maybe next year if he declines a little bit! You're not wrong though, he is overpaid and i say that as a Leafs fan too!

I initially had Hubey because he's gonna make 10.5 when he's 38 and i don't think he's gonna have Pavelski's longevity, i did however remove him as it is just a liiiitle bit too early to have him on!

2022-2023 roster
I'm not sure what the Habs aim to do here. What was the point of trading all those assets to get Dach just to stick him on the 4th line with Armia and whoever. And is Jake Evans just not gonna play once Monahan comes back? I'm eager to see how this plays out.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy316</b></div><div>We arent
MSL system is Suzuki 1st C , Dvorak 3rd C and Evans 4th C
Suzuki had 35 in 37, Dvorak 18 in 22 and Evans 17 in 35
MSL had Pitlick play 2nd C where he got 22 in 35
I think why Monahan was brought in is to play top 6 beside Dach for Faceoff Support
This allows MTL to see if he can be a center as even Danault needed Shaw and Pavelski needed Jumbo Joe
Monahan could end up earning himself MTL as an interested party this summer when he's a UFA if he clicks with Dach.
MSL wont play Dvorak at 3rd either way
Far more likely if not Dach at 2nd C then Monahan will be with Anderson-Dach on his wing
No other upside to bringing in Monahan for a late 2025 1st rounder unless you think Monahan can be sold at the TDL for a decent haul
From a logistic's POV it just seems ideal as Dach had no faceoff support before as Drouin was the only one and i feel he'll be on 3rd with Dvorak (great chemistry) and Gally
If im the GM looking for max pay on my top 3 Forward pending Free Agents
Dadanov-Suzuki-Caufield
Monahan-Dach-Anderson
Drouin-Dvorak-Gally
Hoffman-Evans-Armia
PItlick</div></div>
Well like I said in another post, you guys got a 1st round pick to take Monahan on. Ik Calgary needed to shed cap but he was overpaid and performed badly long before this off-season. Idk who's gonna give you anything for him unless he freaking explodes.
I'm having a hard time seeing Monahan play LW on the 2nd line tbh. I don't get why you put him there. If anything Dach would play wing.
There's probably gonna be at least 1 more trade before season starts including a forward leaving MTL.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Koskinen_The_Great</b></div><div>He scored 80 pts, 3 years ago, and is 27 years old. Is it likely he rebounds? Probably not. But the team has the cap space to take the risk. Worst that can happen is they are left with 'just' a 1st round pick BUT there is certainly a shot that he performs as a top 6 center and will go for assets at the TDL with retention. That's how you rebuild with players on no term, bought low.</div></div>
Did you really just pull his stats from 3 years ago as a motivation to why you'd get assets for his bum ass at the TDL?

I can see this happening. Two injury prone guys swapping teams and the pick swap is definitely worth the cap shedding seeing as Bunting needs a contract next off-season. Leafs would be foolish to decline

St.Louis showed last year that they're still very much a playoff team, why on god's green earth would they take on Dadanov's contract?
I don't think the Flames are interested in Hoffman tbh but they just might do that one. It's 4 quarters for a dollar and those trades are more risky for the team that's trading away the dollar in my experience.
And why are you trading away Allen when Price might very well retire due to the swellings in his knees? That's the strangest trade you've got going on there.

Getting PLD
I don't know what you think this is but "threaten to play poorly" and make no team on the face of the planet want him is a horrible idea. Secondly, if he signs a contract, it's the Jets that holds the power. This ain't the NBA. They can bury him in the AHL if he plays like garbage, just look at Mike Richards who made like 4.8 mil playing in the AHL.
Also, this only theoretically works if Price retires, which still is a big if.

My man said our left side is terrible when we got Chabot who is elite, Sanderson who's going to become elite, and plenty of competent 3rd pairing options, and that the fix to that is Brian Dumolin 😂
Also just to comment on your "They didn't get Giroux amd DeBrincat so they wouldn't contend" comment, Giroux literally went out in the media and said they didn't aim to contend THIS season.
Trust me there's no rush throwing away one our of most versatile talents for a 30 year old rental that really doesn't fill a need however much you'd like to think so lol.

i dunno about this one chief
once giroux's contract expires (assuming he retires), formenton's gonna be the missing piece in the top six.
Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Formenton - Stutzle - DeBrincat
(pinto wont play wing)
and pens also get control on a future top six winger for a while, and they give two expiring players

I'm with Zuki here for 2 reasons.
1. Assuming Formenton is innocent of SA, we'll need him to either replace Giroux fully or be trade bait for a 2nd line winger seeing as Pinto is a purebred center.
2. We have so many defensive prospects coming up in Lassi Thompson, Bernard-Docker, Sanderson and possibly Tomas Hamara in a few years as well, we don't need to trade for defense. If we're contending for a playoff spot come deadline time then maybe i can see it happening but otherwise nah.

Chuchryn trade is still plausible though! Idk if the Yotes would prefer Greig or more picks though, but either way works for us now haha.
Idk about Andreas Johnsson and Brannstrom settling for a 1 mil deals however. Someone else has got to go if this roster is gonna make sense i'm afraid.
