Chicago Blackhawks if they trade for Seth Jones
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ApparentlyOilFan</b></div><div>Strome is never worth a 1st. Keith is a near-cap dump not a cap dump. 5 million for a guy who was trash defensively and had 4 goals this season (got outscored by Larsson this season.)
We would have Neal than Keith.</div></div>
Clearly you haven't watched Keith play much if at all. Neal is useless and would be bought out by any team, Keith would be on your 2nd line for good reason; stark contrast in value there.
Strome is worth a late 1st all day.

Chicago Blackhawks if they trade for Seth Jones
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ApparentlyOilFan</b></div><div>Exactly. 1st for a near cap dump is a big laugh</div></div>
He's not a cap dump. Hawks aren't the one's wanting to "dump him" as they have plenty of cap space and need him. However, Keith wants to move closer to his family and is requesting a trade; Hawks are entertaining it out of respect for him and what he's done.
And that "so called" cap dump will be playing on your second line as your #4 maybe even 3rd best guy....does that say more about Keith or less about the Oilers?

Fixing Winnipeg
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AndrewMan</b></div><div>Honestly, I signed Forbort, and then tried reversing it bc I realized I didn’t need him for my plans.
Niku was picked by Seattle bc he’s a meh defender with a bit of upside, so I just assumed Seattle would pick him tbh, ik there’s other options.
With beauliue, nj is pretty desperate for defensemen, so I thought they might overpay for a guy like him
Ekholm, I made them retain cap bc winnipeg overpayed for him, kv is a solid prospect and a first is pretty solid.
Also, I didn’t know Manson had the peg as one of his no trade team, that’s my bad</div></div>
Without a trade, I think Seattle chooses one of either Appleton or Stanley, or even goaltender Berdin before they go with Niku.
Rather than retaining salary, it would be great in a deal like that for Ekholm if he would agree to an extension as part of the deal!
Great stuff, though! Sometimes it really feels as if only we could just add a couple solid pieces on the back-end (AND have players perform to their potential -- Dubois!) that this team could really make a run!

Pens very simple offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AndrewMan</b></div><div>Ah I see what you’re getting at. Mrazek did have two inconsistent seasons before this outstanding one, so a sorta prove it contract would be his next contract.</div></div>
Plus like I said, most all contending teams are up against the cap. With this flat cap. Not gonna be a ton of money to go around. Buyers market.
And rebuilding teams with the cap room, are gonna spend on young players with potential, or maybe a stop gap vet on a 1-2 year contract. But again, not spending big money.
Very few FA’s will get big money this offseason. I think people are gonna be surprised with some of the low contracts.
Raask, P.Grubauer, L.Ullmark and Driedger will be the goalies that get paid. J.Bernier and Freddy Andersson after that. But they are gonna probably be taking a pay cut as well.
The next tier of Mrazek, J.Halak, A.Raanta, J.Reimer, D.Riitch, B.Elliot will all be getting low-end 1-2 year deals in my opinion.
I would actually like the Pens to go after L.Brossoit. I think he’s a good goalie. Just hasn’t had a big opportunity. I think he could be good, and he’s still young for a goalie.
He’s been good in short stretches b4. Maybe with consistent playing time and an expanded role, he can get into a routine and be another J.Binnington.

Making the penguins a bonafide cup team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AndrewMan</b></div><div>Maybe throw in another top tier prospect and that’ll do the trick , but yeah I agree with you</div></div>
Pens organization said they want to sign a vet-backup-1B goalie. Not trade Jarry.
Jarry was a division winning goalie. Was 25-9 and an AllStar the season b4. Still only 26 years old on a good reasonable contract. I don’t see them trading him or going after a high-end goalie.
The whole organization and teammates backed him after the play-offs. And said just that. He was a division winning goalie, and still young.

Vancouver retool to be playoff team in a weak pacific div
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Juiceman</b></div><div>It’s understandable. Hamonic is probably not worth it if he wants more than 2-2.5 million. Hopefully the Sedins work something out for Edler to keep him for cheap.</div></div>
I think Hamonic will take a deal to stay in Vancouver, he wants to play in western Canada and that's pretty much it. Unless the health concerns with his family have changed that I don't know about, that would be the reason. When I say a deal I mean like 2mill when he might be able to get 3+ playing in the states somewhere.

I don't know what's more insulting. The offer sheet to Petey or the fact that you have him on the 2nd line behind Lindholm.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AndrewMan</b></div><div>Yeah I kinda realized how much of an underpay for Coleman was, but Hamonic really isn’t worth that much, and Edler will likely only receive the 2-3 mil contract if he hits the free agency market. I would’ve taken these things more into mind, but forgot about the Seattle draft, and how that could help some of the cap out</div></div>
It’s understandable. Hamonic is probably not worth it if he wants more than 2-2.5 million. Hopefully the Sedins work something out for Edler to keep him for cheap.

You’re over a million short for Coleman. Hamonic is not willing to take a discount and Edler probably wants 2-3 million. I think it’s a bit overpay for Roussel trade cause worst case scenario they bury him
