I think it's pretty fair as is. Honestly? I don't even know if you have to add Holden for Duchene. As far as 1-for-1 swaps go that one is very close. A lot like Johansen-Jones last season.

I'd be pretty wary of paying Demers that much after his play towards the end of the season and in the playoffs... but it's a minor gripe. As far as Barrie... If it reaches the point where the Avalanche feel they HAVE to trade him, they could do worse than that package but I honestly think they could do better and I also don't expect that gets resolved by the draft. The two sides could easily wind up getting a deal done either in arbitration or just before the arbitration deadline. Trading Barrie before the June draft feels to me like the Avalanche would be giving up on a contract resolution far too soon.</i></div></div>

I agree trading Barrie should be a last case scenario, and you're right if he does become available Sakic would have 29 teams calling him so it's possible to get a better deal elsewhere. Having both Dubois and Sergachev in the pipeline would be really nice though. Dubois is the mold of player Roy likes and if Sergachev hits his potential he could be a top pairing defensemen. In 3-5 years Colorado could have a top four of Zadorov, Bigras, Meloche, Sergachev.

It's hard for me to evaluate how Carolina values Faulk. Both Faulk and Duchene are on good contracts, both are first liners at their position. I think Faulk would be perfect for Colorado, and likewise I think Duchene is exactly what Carolina needs. I'm not sure if Colorado would need to add but I think adding Meloche is a little high. Meloche has the potential to be a real good defenseman in the NHL.

Demers... yeah. UFA.

The expansion draft would suck, as we'd have to expose some good players. There are too many defenseman to take the 7 forwards, 3 defenseman route. They'd have to protect 8 skaters.
