I love the idea of bringing Hamonic to Denver, but I think if it's Barrie you give up then it's a lateral move at best. It "could" be better if the Avs find a way to spend the money saved in a way that further bolsters the defense, but just swapping the two is sort of trading one problem for another. Value is tough, I think NYI has to add a little bit for Barrie, but not much given Hamonic's stellar play this season and even more impressive work in the playoffs on a big national stage. The biggest issue, honestly, is that I don't think the Isles would be interested in the trade. They have Pulock to play the offensive defenseman role and Barrie would make for an expensive luxury that could cost them from their depth down the road.
Reasonable expected returns on Mitchell and Holden, though I'm not about those as destinations. I wonder if Holden could garner a late 2nd round pick from a team that feels they got eliminated thanks to poor D depth
