Barrie for Hamonic would be fair but Hamonic requested trade to Western Canada to be closer to his family.

Colorado and Minny were on his list of destinations if West Canadian teams couldn't get done. Only a 2 hour flight from Winnipeg to Denver, and in same division so he will be going to Winnipeg 2-3 times a year

        Outrageous!

Barrie more than doubled up Hamonic in points.

I didnt say to do it, just saying Hamonic and Denver isnt out of the realm of possibility

I love the idea of bringing Hamonic to Denver, but I think if it's Barrie you give up then it's a lateral move at best. It "could" be better if the Avs find a way to spend the money saved in a way that further bolsters the defense, but just swapping the two is sort of trading one problem for another. Value is tough, I think NYI has to add a little bit for Barrie, but not much given Hamonic's stellar play this season and even more impressive work in the playoffs on a big national stage. The biggest issue, honestly, is that I don't think the Isles would be interested in the trade. They have Pulock to play the offensive defenseman role and Barrie would make for an expensive luxury that could cost them from their depth down the road.

Reasonable expected returns on Mitchell and Holden, though I'm not about those as destinations. I wonder if Holden could garner a late 2nd round pick from a team that feels they got eliminated thanks to poor D depth

In this hypothetical situation I'm looking at if Barrie wants $$$ that Roykic isn't willing to give him. I agree loosing a to 4 D is unacceptable for this team and a Barrie-Harmonic swap might be the best top 4 replacement we can get for him.

I wouldn't be surprised if NYI add something to make this trade happen, but I didn't include that in this mockup.

Yeah I totally see that. And I think you did a good job of addressing the group as a whole by turning around and using that money on Demers. I'm still skeptical about if the Isles would do it for the reasons I said... but this certainly isnt an outlandish proposal.
