Does it? I’ve never seen how that works as I don’t think it’s happened. Not that I know of anyway. If that’s the case, it may require us to add more.

Maybe, but they stink this year and may want to get younger.

You think that would be enough? i feel like we may have to overpay a bit for a young player thats still under contract.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Gaudfather</b></div><div>I don't understand why NY fans don't like Buch, seems like a really good player to me. Monahan can't really drive a line on his own. Isn't great outside of his shot. Chytil is also good, but I feel like people really underrate Buchnevich. If you'd part with both of them, we'd probably do that too haha</div></div>
I think it’s because we watch buch every day. buch is soft on the puck, makes boneheaded plays all the time, and has a knack for not finishing and getting VERY frustrated with himself. With our plethora of wings and lack of centers, moving him in a package for a high end 2C is ideal.
As for monahan fitting in with the rangers, he could be on Panarin’s line. Monahan could shoot to his hearts desire with Bread’s ability to pass the puck. Then you can put either laf or kakko with them. Top line would be laf zbad kreids or Kreids zbad kakko. Second line would then be laf monahan bread or bread monahan kakko.
End result would be 2 top lines that could be very deadly.

Trade with Rangers - Read Description
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>buchiegang</b></div><div>Maybe so, but from my perspective the Rangers are not a Monahan away from contending. The defense group still needs a lot of work (good prospects coming but can’t rush them). My point is rushing the window is a bad idea. Trading away prospects that could have a longer term impact is a bad move, especially after getting so many of them over the last few years. If in 1 to 2 years we’re one piece away from contending and their are quality prospects blocked on the depth chart by other good players, that’s when you pull the trigger. It’s too early in the process to be making this kind of move...</div></div>
I can get behind this. I just want that number 2 center sooner than later. I don’t want to waste time and money with strome when he’s just simply not the answer, no matter how well he plays with Panarin. God forbid Panarin goes down, he wouldn’t be able to keep up with good teams 2C’s.
I would also look to make another move for a shutdown LHD. I think that would put us right there with contending for a solid 5+ years.

I strongly disagree. If monahan was like 31-32, I would agree. The dude is 25 and could potentially help us contend next year. Also, look at Calgary’s forward core, it’s pretty average aside from him and Gaudreau.
I also only asked this only if they decide to blow the team up.

Obv as a ranger fan we would. But you got to give to get. I’ve been done with buch for 2 years. This is just one move, then we make other moves to bring in a shutdown LHD.

Strome’s rights would be traded, and then you would need minor moves.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caufzi</b></div><div>That deal seems pretty lopsided in CGY's favour IMO. I see Monahan as a high-end 2C. Giving up a good young 3C, a 1st round pick, and a recent top-10 pick in Kravtsov seems like a lot.</div></div>
I think chytil is destined for the wing, I know he’s young and can get better, but a 1-2 punch of zbad and monahan(who is a good faceoff man) could put us over the top. Plus monahan has a few years left on his deal if I’m not mistaken.

Just took a shot, i figured as much, but it would give buch (a lesser player) to replace hertl, and would give them a goalie of the future. Also a pick. you think they would do it if it was a first instead of a second? at that point i think i might be giving up too much if im the rangers.

Staal Retires - We can keep everyone
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skeating_sec224</b></div><div>Nope they are on LTIR due to a proven medical injury that makes them unable to play.
If Staal up a retired (doubtful) NYR would be hit with a small CAP recapture penalty (see Roberto Luongo) of 2 million for 2020/21
Hanks would be 3 million if your interested.
DeAngelo is getting a bigger payday (Darnell Nurse also an impending RFA RHD w/arbitration rights) just got 2 years @5,6 per) so think 1 or 2 years at 5.5 -5.7
Strome is also an impending RFA w/arbitration rights, think the Hayes deal, I year 5 million if he gets 50-55 points. Maybe NYR sign him too a 2 year deal 4.85 while Chytil develops into a 2C...
Quickie will get 3 years 2.5- 2.75 ... Heck Hagelin just got 4 @2.75 from the CAPS
based on where the NYR rebuild is now ... I'd take that CK deal.... but will he! My guess was/is 6 years @6.5 ..
Dont see SJS moving Hertl for that package. Unelss a piece like Chytil went the other way & maybe one of the Def prospects, Keane, or Hajek & Buch came out of the deal.</div></div>
When i said retire, i meant put on LTIR (due to something wrong with his messed up eye) and move on.
As for your other points, i can definitely see where my values might be a little low, so we can see.
Also, i just threw in for Hertl to try and take a shot cause we had extra cap space under those number. If you want to give TDA and Stromer more money, it can be done by keeping buch and trading georie for picks.

Why? Hertl has 1 year over 30 goals... This year, if he finished the season, he might be close. Buch can give you around 20 and around 50 points. Plus we are giving them a potential goalie and a 2nd rounder. gives them a bit of cap relief as well.

Rangers are already retaining half of the contract. And he's not useless, he had a knee injury. Shattenkirk at 3.3 is not a bad deal at all for another team.

Contend next season
I think Hags would make a great 4th line addition to this team at the right price.
As for the PK trade, like i listed in the comments, i put in all those pieces to get a much more workable cap hit in return. Also, you got to give to get. You're not getting Subban for scraps...
Georgiev, youre probably right. Maybe we can move him at the deadline for the same if Shesty proves to be playing well in Hartford.
