Why? Hertl has 1 year over 30 goals... This year, if he finished the season, he might be close. Buch can give you around 20 and around 50 points. Plus we are giving them a potential goalie and a 2nd rounder. gives them a bit of cap relief as well.

Yep happens all the time. Players just retire cause their team wants cap space.

Nope they are on LTIR due to a proven medical injury that makes them unable to play.

If Staal up a retired (doubtful) NYR would be hit with a small CAP recapture penalty (see Roberto Luongo) of 2 million for 2020/21
Hanks would be 3 million if your interested.

DeAngelo is getting a bigger payday (Darnell Nurse also an impending RFA RHD w/arbitration rights) just got 2 years @5,6 per) so think 1 or 2 years at 5.5 -5.7
Strome is also an impending RFA w/arbitration rights, think the Hayes deal, I year 5 million if he gets 50-55 points. Maybe NYR sign him too a 2 year deal 4.85 while Chytil develops into a 2C...
Quickie will get 3 years 2.5- 2.75 ... Heck Hagelin just got 4 @2.75 from the CAPS
based on where the NYR rebuild is now ... I'd take that CK deal.... but will he! My guess was/is 6 years @6.5 ..

Dont see SJS moving Hertl for that package. Unelss a piece like Chytil went the other way & maybe one of the Def prospects, Keane, or Hajek & Buch came out of the deal.

Ok bud... its been done before, and it'll happen again. If you wanna play it your way, he has a screwed up eye, that could be the reason why. Put him on LTIR and move on.

When i said retire, i meant put on LTIR (due to something wrong with his messed up eye) and move on.

As for your other points, i can definitely see where my values might be a little low, so we can see.

Also, i just threw in for Hertl to try and take a shot cause we had extra cap space under those number. If you want to give TDA and Stromer more money, it can be done by keeping buch and trading georie for picks.

Just took a shot, i figured as much, but it would give buch (a lesser player) to replace hertl, and would give them a goalie of the future. Also a pick. you think they would do it if it was a first instead of a second? at that point i think i might be giving up too much if im the rangers.

With the state of SJ I guess anything is possible, still I'd think they'd be more interested in moving aging players with long contracts over a player in his prime with a good contract, other side of the coin is it will cost them futures to move the long-term aging players which would stall any rebuild, SJ is in a catch 22 that will be very difficult to get out of, as NYR I'd preach patience they are well on there way to building a really really good team seems short sighted to spend quality assets for a win now move when NYR is still a few years out from the window opening
