Yeah I checked to make it work but didn't realize CapFriendly didn't have Tarasenko yet.

EK and new 3rd line
Cap friendly still has a few AHL contracts and 3 goalies on the list. The Canes actually have 5m in cap space with both Skjei & Pesce on the roster.
Assuming one (if not both) Skjei and Pesce are included…they have space available for a retained EK + depth signings.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>brgh4life</b></div><div>How do you figure? You have less than 3 mill in cap space.</div></div>

Thread:
They could still get EK and a Goal Scorer
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Beachcaniac</b></div><div>Heres the quote. "Dubas engaged in talks with San Jose’s star (and very expensive) defensemen Erik Karlsson, a team source who requested anonymity so they could speak freely confirmed to The Athletic. A deal to Pittsburgh, which now appears more unlikely following the spending spree that followed, would have been complex and included a mystery team along with the Penguins and Sharks."
As you can see it doesn't state whether its retention or assets/contracts. Could be looked at either way, but I understand your point as well. Its a long long time. With my proposal, San Jose could eat more and get more out of it. Just from what I've read is that Grier doesn't want to retain half of EK's contract which is why I went the path that I did for EK.</div></div>
Makes sense. Griers stance doesn’t really make sense. If he eats closer to half he’ll get more teams in and get way more for EK. They’re not going to come out of the rebuild until year 4 anyways and by that point the cap will have gone up so % taken by retention won’t be as significant. Seems like he’s a bit short sighted unless I’m just not seeing his rationale.

True but they’re very calculated risks with outs included. 4 years with his injury history could be a risk too far. But they’re clearly working at the deal so maybe you’re right. At this point I’m just blindly trusting the brain trust.

Need to actually give some quality pieces that you wouldn’t want to give up or what’s the point.
Also, they absolutely don’t have to trade him or sign him in the next couple of days. I’m sure they’d love resolution by then but they can absolutely play this out over the summer and even into the season by using him as their own rental if the returns aren’t good on trade market.
Wouldn’t put much stock into anything Pagnotta says.

Very easy pass for the Canes. Whenever you actually end up including a high value piece in your proposal, the Canes might consider calling you back.

Did this same proposal eariler but with a 2nd. All Toronto guys told me to swap the 2nd with the 1st and they will most likely accept the deal. This is a real offer. Pesce is someone that the Leafs could desperately use just as Nylander would be someone the Canes need as well. Don’t act like this is so one-sided.

Ya no worries, I get what ur tryna do, just not feasible for BOS to move all 3 in the same deal and get a few undrafted nobodies in return, but Drury and the 2nds are solid

I’d say 23 first morrow 24 second and one of Gunler/Drury would be my best offer I think. Don’t really need retention.</div></div>
I would do that offer. I think it’s crazy how at the start of the year Morrow was untouchable and now doesn’t seem as much so. I think Meier is worth it, guaranteed star
