Same thing with the Jason Zucker signing. 1 year deal hoping to trade him with half salary retention at the deadline.

Full Rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sens65</b></div><div>No, we don't.</div></div>
We get lots of cap space and the second best hockey player in the world.
What we're giving up is two players with a lengthy injury history, a player possibly implicated in scandal and a late 1st round pick.
I think it's a good deal for Ottawa.

Fresh outlookdown year
I doubt Boston accepts. It would be a good idea on paper to get a prospect with the ceiling of the next Bergeron as his replacement, but along with the doubts of whether he can reach that ceiling, I don't think Swayman and a 1st would be a fair price for him. Swayman is probably going to end up a consistent top 6-10 best goalie in the league, and to pair him with a 1st for a guy who hasn't played a full NHL season and a cap dump of a goalie in Driedger probably isn't the best way of improving your team.
On Seattle's end, I don't know if they'd accept simply because their center position is really in no man's land. Beniers will definitely be a solid 1c (he pretty much is already) but he probably can't be the only high end center option on an actual contender, and other than Gourde at 3c, the rest is pretty subpar, with Wennberg 2c and Bellmare 4c. Seattle probably won't look to give up their best prospect who also play a position of need, though I still do think they accept the trade because they bring in a young guy who plays another position of need, being a goalie.
TL;DR This trade is definitely good on account of it answering a position of question for both teams, the main issue is that it creates new problems for both teams in the process. If you're looking for a good center prospect and a goalie for Swayman, maybe Arizona's Vejmelka and C. Geekie for Swayman, Poitras and a 3rd could work, or San Jose's Eklund and Kahkonen or Blackwood for a similar return?

Could be more of an indication on the status of Bergeron returning.

young, controlled power forwards who can score are worth more than a 3rd rounder. Not saying they will all get a 1/2/3/4/5, but certainly more than what you're insinuating

SJS Trade Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LPProductions</b></div><div>Where is this whole close +/- thing coming from? Forbort is +14 and Benning is -9. Despite it not being a great stat, that is not "similar" on any planet. Sure Benning is a little more productive points wise, but he's played 11 more games and get a bit of PP time. Forbort's role is to block shots, play in the Briuns own zone, and play important minutes on one of the better PKs in the NHL; he does a damn good job in that role.
If the Bruins acquire Benning as a 7/8th defenseman for a mid-round pick sure, he'd be very nice depth to have. But there is zero chance they make your proposed deal</div></div>
Ya, its so wildly far off. Take out the 2nd and 3rd and there’s no shot - how he got to a conditional first is beyond me.

Schenn is becoming overrated as hell lol. He’s a want not a need no team is gonna massively overpay for him.
Schenn is 6/7th dman we saw that when he played for tampa during their cup runs. In van he’s being played way over his head because they have a terrible defence.
He’s not gonna get you a chariot/ savard like return. Those guys were actually top 4 physical defensive dmen

With 3rd round picks and no prospect pool we aren’t going to get much to make this truly a “last dance.”</div></div>
I just don’t see any clear upgrade.

It’s one of them for sure! Completely agree. I was about 50 feet away from him when he was handed the cup. Still stings.
However, the year is currently 2023, not 2019. Trent Frederic has been a better player than ROR this year…which again, is not 2019.

I have said this before but users really overrate what deep drafts mean. The top5 is like a top3, the top10 like a top7 and the top15 like a top12 but it really really doesn’t matter out of the top 15-20.
The entire draft class isn’t jacked. There are just a few really really special talents at the very top.

By that logic, Schenn should have 14 cups by now.

He isn’t worth more than this based off 1 ridiculous season that he will never repeat. He’s not even worth that honestly. He’s a 3rd line guy. His real value is the cap hit.
He averages .44ppg for his career. Take out his outlier season it’s .36. He shot well above his career average last year, back to normal and he’s averaging .5ppg. He’s a 45% career faceoff guy. He’s best suited to play 3rd line.

Hagel had a total of 3 years at 1.5M and will be a RFA at the end of his contract + he is younger
Maybe BOS add a little bit, but it's a solid base for a trade (getting a 2023 1st round pick +)

Evans would have trouble cracking the lineup. Certainly not top 9. Decent depth piece. Could do worse. But not the guy they need.
Bruins top 6 on d is set as well. Especially on the left side. Not sure where he’d fit.
