I the young kids play it will end up like Buffalo or Edmonton. If you look at the Coyotes now, the reason they improved over the last 2 years is by adding Stepan, Hjarlmarsson, Goligoski, Raanta, Demers and Soderberg. Giving prospects un-earned ice time is the key to failure 8 times out of 10.

I would suggest adding Carl Soderberg down the middle and Libor Hajek on right D. That should solve any problems.

Wow lots of chat on here.
I would say, as this seems to be one of the biggest points, Mittlestadt is not ready to play center and would be much better to develop on the wing, or even the AHL. There is a long way to go there.

A surprise to be sure but a welcome one
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ajp_18</b></div><div>That is true, but Merzlinkins was also on nA ice for 2 months before the season started, Vinni hasn’t been in NA ice yet. The international ice is wider and the angles points are a little different and it takes some adjustment time. Samsanov is better then both an way awful last year in the AHL to start the season. PLD was correctly identified but Jarmo is also from Finland and passed on the 3rd ranked prospect from that year. I guess the lineup switch would be to flip the 2nd and 3rd lines and put Texier with Jenner and Anderson.</div></div>
For VV, I think Antti Raanta is comparable, and as you say it takes time to adjust, I suspect he and Elvis (great name) will share backup and AHL duties during the year. Foligno is always tricky to place in the lineup, but he brings a lot to the table. I'm a big believer in Riley Nash and his possession style, and Texier and other fast players could really feed from that, I don't consider it a fourth line by any means, just another good option in the Jackets arsenal.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ajp_18</b></div><div>I doubt Edmonton makes that trade, also Columbus passed on him once already.
Last thing is Merzlinkins will likely beat out Vehvainen for the NHL spot and you lines are all messed up.</div></div>
Vehvilainen has been excellent in Finland for the last few years, think Juse Saros in Nashville. Finland is a tougher league than Switzerland too. Second, the Jackets didn't pass on Puljujarvi, they correctly identified Dubois as the center and 3rd pick, that's the best return EDM can expect btw. And my lines are perfect for a well balanced deep lineup, with plenty of room to adjust and maneuver.

I mean, Buffalo are somehow worse than Vancouver and in no position to turn their noses up. Its a pretty fair trade considering McCabe has had some injury issues the last few years too, and probably doesn't want to spend much longer there.

That's really not true though is it. I've never seen a player left out to dry by his teammates as often as Risto. You can't underestimate how poor the Sabres were under Housley last season.

So lose Ristolainen, and then pay Brodie more, whilst including an un-proven 20 year old to put at second line center. Should work wonders.

Haha, that's a typo, should be 300k. I think by retaining a little salary it helps sell the deal to Carolina without needing to add a higher pick.

Anaheim has never outbid anyone for a top free agent since the Samueli's bought the team and they aren't about to during a rebuild/retool.</div></div>

The likelihood is Shore would be placed on waivers unless traded, so its a fair depth move.

I'm not sure I like that Nashville trade. It would look good 2 or 3 years ago, but both Subban and Turris have trended down over the last 18 months.
Schmaltz would be a good project too, especially in the AHL.

You'd have to be a serious degenerate to not think Draisaitl is as good as Matthews, Malkin, Makinnon etc. All great players need to be alongside the best. Bossy/Trottier, Gretzky/Kurri, Jagr/Lemieux, Sakic/Forsberg/Hejduk, Crosby/Malkin, Toews/Kane.
Crosby and Malkin feature on the same PP, and Malkin plays with this chubby bloke called Phil. Part of being as good as Crosby or McDavid is playing with equally good teammates.

Dillon is a very good stay at home D, but McCabe should be able to cover that role, as long as he is healthy. The biggest issue with this team here is the 2nd line, which is very weak.

Two Jakub for one Brassard
I'm not to sure what Boston will do at the deadline. I think they might be smarter to have a quiet deadline, and see if one of Donato or Cellery can make it in the top 6, only Simmonds makes any sense for Boston to have an actual impact on the team as rental.
Sure Brassard is a good player, but I cant see him bringing anything of benefit to the line-up other than another forward to mix in and not help the top 6.
