+3 and 4 pts in 9 games with penguins averaging 20 mins a night replacing for injuries is a great first step last season.
Obviously rushed by NJD, let's let him have a chance</div></div>
Needs to be paired with a complementary blueliner and put in "sheltered" minutes to be effective. He still has a 4th/5th defenseman with PP2 upside but he needs to "own" the AHL on a top unit with full responsibility before an NHL team gives him that opportunity outside of injury fill-in time.
He's Torey Krug with 33% less points/minute.
To be frank, if there were anyone that is borderline NHL defenseman that should consider moving to forward it might be him.

Definitely wouldn't give up a first or pay Lafreniere 6 million. He hasn't been that good. And I think that's way way too much money and term for Jarry.

Probably has to be a 2024 1st Rd pick but that looks dangerous with him in the third spot, carter on his wing that's a nice lineup

Toews for a 1st.</div></div>
I will agree with everything but this: I think Dumo has no value, but not negative value. He's regressed to the point that his cap hit is pretty bad for what he brings to the table, but he's been solid in a reduced role. He's effective as a depth DFD and a veteran with championship and leadership experience. No, he's not the player he once was, but I don't think his contract is so bad that it would take a 2nd to move him.
Trade still sucks for Chicago regardless.

Buffalo Sabres signed Mattias Samuelsson (7 Years / $4,285,714 AAV)
Long time I haven't seen a Chayka's special, we'll see how this one turns out.
If he hits his 2LD ceiling the contract isn't even much of a bargain (more like going rate than anything else) so I don't see the upside considering they'll have other dman to spend money on soon.

It's one thing to do this for a guy who played a good full season, such as Alex Tuch in 2018. It's another thing to do this for a guy who has not even played a full season.
If Samuelsson actually becomes a viable 2LD, this contract could look like a bargain. But for now, it's a needless gamble. At least they'll get the 1/3 discount on a buyout if he turns out to not be that great (see: Hodgson, Cody).
