I don't disagree. I was trying to think of this year's "Dach trade" for someone who may need a new scenery. Gives Colorado just a little more breathing room to make some more moves for a deep run.

Realistic
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vikhodush</b></div><div>Canes trade is far from realistic. Not moving our top RD prospect for Eddy and his back problems. Even without those problems wouldn’t entertain it - he was an average third pair guy for us at best so don’t think there’s any interest in a reunion.</div></div>
I get your argument and actually agree. I do think however, defenseman like Edmundson are highly coveted (back problems aside.) So whether it is Carolina or another team like Edmonton or Florida the return might be a little better than what the other team is willing to give up. Similar to how I think Scott Mayfield/Carson Soucy will be the two biggest "mistake" contracts handed out this summer.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FullSend</b></div><div>Oilers don’t do this, I think Nuge’s recent chemistry with McDavid at the end of the season and at Worlds has led me to believe that he’s not as desperate as you think. Though you think I may be wrong, just know this, it’s been everywhere, insiders reported it, he has spoke on it, Oiler Exec’s have, he is lookin for a top defenseman and he will leak any assets he can into a trade to acquire one. So I think if they were in on Paccioretty, one of the best assets they have wouldn’t be on the table, Montreal would be better off dealing with another team that’s interested.</div></div>
I have heard the same and I do agree. I can see it going the route of a winger if a defenseman like Faulk or Tanev isn't available to them. If JT does stay in Long Island maybe we go one or two spots down with them if that is the case and send Pac to his hometown.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>clark</b></div><div>out of the playoffs, teams like oilers and panthers don't trade their # 1 picks for a one year rental. seems to be a constant and unwarranted theme by Canadien fans. deHaan has been injured in the past few years, there just might be safer values to sign</div></div>
I feel the Oilers are in a different position than most teams. The pressure to win there with what they have makes me believe they will be willing to move that pick for an impact player. Chance to play with McDavid can make any rental re-sign. Pac has a good center to feed him, he's hitting 35 again. De Haan was simply because he is a young UFA, puck moving D where you do not need to move any assets.
