I definitely think Ottawa tries to move on from Norris this summer, but adding a more expensive guy who is as bad or worse at staying healthy is definitely not the play

Lauzon wont be traded either. Brings too much that management/coach likes in grit/hits especially to be traded out for a guy that doesnt hit at all.</div></div>
Yeah, without McDonagh in NSH, it's more realistic for the Preds. It's hard to imagine him willing to be traded there though. Then when you think about how willing would OTT be to trade Chychrun for a more expensive, much older replacement, not to mention how do they make room for McDonagh's cap hit without a lot of other moves - I think it's too unrealistic for the Sens now.
Maybe the Devils would be interested in Chychrun? Their left side isn't the strongest.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Borocop</b></div><div>i think he could be fine on PP2, problem in ottawa is he wasnt even the PP2 handler he was a shooter this year. I think his 5 on 5 production could get back to a high level if he can play his strong side, and even though i’ve signed him in this acgm I think Carrier would be a really good partner for him.</div></div>
If NSH were to add Chychrun and re-sign Carrier, they'd have too many defensemen.
McDonagh-Josi
Chychrun-Carrier
Lauzon-Fabbro
DelGaizo-Schenn
That's just the ones they'd have to expose to waivers. Stastney absolutely deserves a roster spot over a couple of those guys, but he'd be stuck in the AHL again, because he's still exempt. Plus Molendyk could be in the mix too. Brunette wanted to keep him in NSH instead of sending him back to junior last fall.
Acquiring Chychrun doesn't really address any huge needs for NSH, and the assets it would take to get him could be better spent elsewhere (like improving the middle six). NSH re-signing him beyond his current contract would be hard to justify too, with multiple LDs with term who aren't going anywhere and NHL ready young ones who'll need roster spots.
Despite <a href="/users/Ennis" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@Ennis</a> being a confirmed Lauzon hater who'd pay you to take him, Trotz and Brunette love the guy. He's not getting moved anytime soon.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Borocop</b></div><div>it was an issue at the draft cycle but it’s not anymore, it’s been a major area of development for him. He will never be a + skater per se, but his mobility is more than passable for a player in his mould. Again he’s not a perfect prospect but I think he has upside in the right situation</div></div>
The Blues would want a bona fide top 4 Dman and Army insists on plus skaters. People can say all sorts of things about the Blues Dmen the last couple seasons, but everyone is a plus skater. Been that way for years. Kleven is definitely not a plus skater and he also has issues with passing. In these ways, he does not fit the profile they like. Keleven's defense and stick and physicality fit (the last one to an extent, as he's kinda too aggressive a lot of times).

Chychrun wouldn't be getting the PP1 or offensive zone minutes he needs to produce in NSH, with Josi already there.

Giving OTT a better player doesn't make it a better proposal for NSH.

Just looked at defensive impacts.
Give me Trevor Van Riemsdyk and one of Dumoulin / Maata. All 3 could get pushed out by their teams.
That would be an elite defensive 3rd pair

Okay, well the first thing isn't a need at all. In fact, it kinda gets in the way if he's what you say he is. The prospect is absolutely not A level. He's a poor skater, whose ceiling is maybe 2nd pairing, though even that seems rather optimistic. It's presumably not going to be enticing. The pick is potentially nice for trading up, but it's not high enough to cover for the issues of the other two. And since Joseph makes about half of what Buch currently makes, the Blues don't gain a difference making amount of cap space, either.

I like a lot of the moves... I would partner Whitecloud with Chabot though as tyhey were absolutely dominant together at the WHC 2 seasons ago. Whitecloud would be the perfect (DeMelo) type partner for Chabot. I don't thgink Bjugstadt is needed, especially at $2M. With options like Kastelic, Ostapchuk, and Chartier (if retained) could all be as good or better than Bjugstadt at a much lower cap hit. I am hoping Staios chases Cal Clutterbuck hard as a UFA this offseason. I think he'd be perfect for the 4th line and is amazing killing penalties, something we desperately need. But overall I like your moves :)

Basically pick 14 and a 3rd pairing RD at best for Chych. Honestly I don't see us getting much better offers than that I would take it and just move on. We can get a Trevor Connelly, Greentree, Nygard type dude in the prospect pool at that pick and I'll be happy with it.

Calgary declines, Coleman won't be going anywhere unless someone makes a crazy offer for him.
