Realistic tradessignings they should make
I generally like the addition of OEL, but I think that contract is a lot for any team, especially with McAvoy and Pastrnak needing new contracts soon.

Ok, I get your point, thanks for this thread! It's nice when people have real conversations on CF instead of just saying "Ottawa hangs up". 👍

I geuss I see you point of why WPG would not do it but I feel like <em>(I obviously don't know what your thing, just a geuss)</em> your underrating Labanc, Barbanov, and Balcers.

Maybe, my reasoning was: Karlsonn's offensive numbers haven't been as bad as you might think, and he can play in his own zone fine. Labanc is already a really good top 6 winger at the age of 25, and has time to improve more. Balcers is a decent, young, depth scorer, although is nothing special and then you also get Barbanov who is also still young and had a good season. Winnipeg gives up a possibly, but no certain future top 6 center and a top 4 prospect. I can see the value for Winnipeg after a dissapointg season, although I can also see why they might not give up prospects.

And both very close to NHL ready. And Poulin is a 6’3, 210 pound, power forward who doesn’t have to be a top 6 or bust. His floor is an NHL 3rd liner.
For what?? A bunch of scraps and Nic Paul?? And a whole lot of salary that they don’t have room for.
Come on man. Anything else u want??</div></div>

For the Philly one:
-Zub is a very good in his own end, and he is no slack in the O-zone either. PHI needs that after this season.
-Paul and Tierny are good depth additions up front
-Zaitsev is also very good in his own zone.
-PHI gives up some of their future.

Alsing is a fine prospect (not saying he is anywhere near Peterka) and Dadanov is having a down year + Clark Bishop because he's a functional AHL player, that was my reasoning. But yes, the more and more I think about I am not sure why Buffalo would do that trade.

For most of the trades I did it because the players <em>want</em> to sign with the Bruins so they take advantage of that and the fact they they might take less money and then ship them off for prospects/picks. This might make no sense, idk.

Steady improvements for COL and some Big Signings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mediumyeet</b></div><div>Here is a link to sole LTIR FAQ's
https://www.capfriendly.com/ltir-faq
It is confusing but basically trading for LTIR players doesn't really help at all. It's really only useful if you're using it to move players out that have a bad cap hit and replacing them with a guy that is going to be LTIR
For example:
When Tampa traded for Gaborik and Nillson last year it wasn't to gain additional cap space it was to get rid of Coburn and Paquettes contracts. Ideally they would have just moved those guys without having any contracts come back. But presumably, the cost to do that was too high so they opted for a trade that took back guys that are on LTIR. Ottawa wanted to move Gaboriks and Nillson so they don't have to pay for the contracts of two guys that aren't even playing. Tampa accepted that they will pay the remainder of those contracts in order to get rid of Coburn and Paquette's cap hits so they could get below the salary cap.
Also, welcome to CapFriendly. It's a fun place, lots of negativity in the comments most of the time but awesome when you get a good discussion going.</div></div>
Thanks for the FAQ, that Tampa Trade is exactly what I was woefully "attempting" to do. And also, thanks for the welcome!

Both Johnson and Francouz are on LTIR or am I confused on how that works, I am not sure. If thats no how it works ignore that trade.
