I like it. I would keep Zacha with his pal Pasta and consider Lysell for a spot on the Poitras line out of camp.

Agree with Marchand with Coyle. Wouldn’t be shocked to see Lysell eventually hit the top 6.</div></div>
Geekie on the fourth line would be ideal if Lysell can play in the top nine. Would like to see Poitras play with linemates with better scoring touch like DeBrusk and Lysell.

Swayman, Poitras, Lohrei, and a 2025 #1 for Draisaitl and Campbell
Ultimately, I can’t see the Oilers trading Drai unless he tells them he’s not resigning. I don’t believe there is a world where he goes I don’t want to play with Connor McDavid.
Also, I think Swayman has elevated himself into best young goalie we’ve seen in a while status. I think this team is going to use him as a foundational piece for the future

I'd say at minimum Carlo has to be added for EDM. They desperately need a 2RD upgrade behind Bouchard. Can take the 1st out of the deal, but there's no way this would be the best offer they could get for Draisaitl.

My guess is they pick up someone like Chris Driedger as an insurance policy. I expect Bussi to be the backup,
I know people will question the Lindholm contract. At the beginning of the year, he was everybody’s number 1 choice to player you hoped hit free agency.
My expectation is we might be tossing in 5 years closer to 8.5 than 7 years at 7. Not sure if the discount for a poor year is a reduction. In years or a reduction in salary

Are we sure that Elias is a big enough upgrade over Coyle to commit to him until he's 36? I think if you can get Guentzel to commit to that contract, you do it for sure.

Important to note: we won't have that 2nd round pick. That's the conditional 2nd that'll swap with Philly for this year's, and transfer 2025's to Philly. So unless we want to give up this year's 36OA pick...
I'd much rather be a team getting assets to retain on Coyle to ship him to a contender than be the team paying to acquire him. He's great, but he just doesn't fit CBJ's needs/timeline.

Offseason wishlist realistic internal signings
Most GM’s, who have this caliber of goaltender, don’t entertain trading them unless forced to cap wise. Cap related trades are generally done at a discount.
I don’t believe we can acquire Timo Meier for a discount because Taylor Hall netted two AHL types with the Bruins up against the cap. Yet that seems to be the concept thrown around here with goaltenders.
As I take a look at talented teams whose years were destroyed and whose playoff ceilings are limited because of poor goaltending, I am OK keeping both goalies.
My perspective is most late first rounders can be amply replaced statistically by an AHL free agent, a second draft candidate, or a minimum player looking for a chance on a good team. It’s probably the most overrated asset in hockey followed closely by a 2nd round pick. Every draft has that stage where it goes from great prospect to good prospect to talented flyer
You take them when you know you are going to lose a player, because it’s a flyer with upside that likely will fail to materialize into anything. When they do, it’s great for cap health.

I should have clarified that point. I would assume retention on Forsberg and that he would be buried in Providence most likely
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OwnGoal</b></div><div> However I think you could remove Forsberg and still make the trade centred around Chych and Ullmark *if he waives lol</div></div>
I could see him waiving with an extension. Staying in Boston next year increases the potential from being separated from his kids and then having to move the following year.

He only has 1 year left if Ottawa retained half you’d have a safety net for your rookie goaltender incase of injury. However I think you could remove Forsberg and still make the trade centred around Chych and Ullmark *if he waives lol

Ullmark waives for security
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bruins_Guy613</b></div><div>I am more of the belief Ullmark blocked the TDL move to LA because he didn't want to be away from his family for months at a time with no certainty of the future. I think he'd be more open to moving to the west coast to a good team if he had the chance to put an extension in place. A deal like this may not come to fruition until after the draft and free agency starts.</div></div>
If it were to happen, it would be before free agency with an agreement in place on a contract for Ullmark. The timing would be dictated by PLD’s no trade clause.
This wouldnt be a popular deal among either fan bases. I won’t cherry coat it, but I do believe the teams discussed a deal centering around Ullmark and Dubois.
Still believe Boston is signing Lindholm instead

where linus might end up
I think the premise that he won’t go to Canadian teams or West Coast teams is based on parameters that are going to change significantly on July 1st.
A team that offers him a market extension with appropriate trade clauses could be more appealing than a lame duck season in Boston waiting to be traded and be away from his family for months if it happens.
No one knows how he will respond. Period. Maybe his wife or his best friend on earth who I assume aren’t going to post it on cap friendly,

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bruins_Guy613</b></div><div>reports seem to indicate he values staying on the east coast so the leafs may not be on his NTC list so he may not have a choice in the matter. i doubt the Bs trade him within the Atlantic but who knows. with Hanifin off the market they could use Ullmark as a trade chip to try and fill the spot on defence.</div></div>
But you guys don't need a #1 guy, that's what you picked up Lindholm to do, you need a relatively cheap 2nd pairing guy with a bit of offense, there should be plenty of options available on the market.

I think Poitras needs to really pop in camp or they could send him to Providence for the start of the year to get reps and up to speed and then try and get him back in the lineup.</div></div>
I’m very curious to see where they play Lysell assuming he makes the team out of camp
I could see him on the third line but I’d like to see him playing with Pasta or Marchand

Holtz is going to be interesting in terms of how he’s valued. In one sense, he’s talented enough to be worth more than the 2025 first. In another, he’s had a couple of coaches minimize his role and he has some risks.
Lauko is likely an insurance policy that cycles between Providence and Boston. It’s OK if he is exposed via waivers. Hes still useful even if he isn’t on the NHL roster</div></div>
In terms of coaches, Brunette was Holtz biggest advocate in NJD.
And if I had to trust coaches views, I think I go

He’s actually an interesting watch. He has speed and toughness. He does a lot of interesting things on the ice except he always seems to fumble it as he starts to shoot. It will have to be Beecher OR Lauko. You can’t have two of them on the ice at the same time
My guess is a 5th at best at this stage. He’s useful, but not undifferentiated from a lot of AHL options

Sweeney hasn’t made many mistakes recently and I will go with his judgment, because frankly … if not for the Miller fiasco, he deserved GM of the year last year and I’d argue this year was better.
People lost their head over the Peeke deal. Now it looks very intelligent. I think he’s found a group around him that is suited to make good decisions

OEL for a couple year at 3 maybe.
Dillon at $4 is rough. Would rather add a puck mover with Carlo, Peeke, Spoon already in the mix. 🤷🏻♂️
