if we keep most of the roster in tact well probably keep Ully
You could offer DeBrusk a million less than that and he'd still go for it.
You could also go with 2 scratches instead of 4 which frees up another 1.5 million.
And the cap is probably going up to 87.7 not 87 million. So that's another 700k right there.
Which leaves you with $4.9 million of cap space to add another player. And if you do get another player with that money that subtracts one player from the roster who will lose his spot to the new guy.
So after all that, you can spend another $5.7 million on a player even with Ullmark staying.

Combined.
Assume Hanifin gets 7.5M (+500k), Debrusk 5.25 M (+250k), and Heinen is probably closer to 2.5M (+1.25M)

On a side note, I liked how Wotherspoon and Peeke looked like last night. I love Lohrei, but he should be the bench guy right now and just learn.
Also, when does Frederic take a run at Bennett in the next game? You know it’s coming

Can't see any team trading for him.
Would Ullmark waive his NTC for Detroit?</div></div>
Husso is on a one year contract and the assumption is Detroit would NOT be on his list considering it’s a similar distance flight/hub. One year contracts shouldn’t drive guaranteeing a weak positional mix especially with the number of young players Detroit has on its team. They should easily have the salary flexibility to upgrade the position. Cossa isn’t ready to start, but should make for a good backup. Augustine is interesting, but we saw with the kid from Buffalo that jumping to the NHL is difficult.
My biggest issue with this deal from Boston’s perspective is its quantity but not quality.
I’d rather have a late first than a mid 2nd, mid 3rd, and a 4th.
I’d rather have a top 23 pick than two seconds.
I’d rather just trade him for a good prospect by themselves than take this package.

He grew up as a Junior Bruin. Not that it matters, but he’s a local kid and we have a legitimate opportunity for him to win a role next year. We lack RW options outside of Lysell. He is going to make similar money elsewhere and my guess is he’s in our top 5 prospects to start

I have no qualms with Jake Middleton as a player, but the reality is we probably could sign Joel Edmundson for a similar salary without giving up draft capital. My guess is he’d play a similar role. You have cap room. It’s just about using it effectively.

because of the market. he's signing after sucking, PLD signed after putting up two really good years and having a team trade a pile to acquire him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>He’s coming off a year where he likely can’t demand what Horvat and Scheifele got. I think the number is going to be between 6.75 and 7.75m and fully expect him to get 7 years. Boston is probably one of the more attractive places to Lindholm, because he fits the system and he’d be playing with Pasta/Zacha which essentially is recreating the line he has the most success with. Sweeney has tried to trade for him with Calgary and Vancouver, so my guess is he’s ready to pay the necessary price to secure him.
Its a risk, but so is waiting for the second tier free agents and hoping you don’t overpay them (which is essentially what happened with Reilly/Forbort, but Ullmark hit which kind of excuses it). If you could have gotten Lindholm without giving assets based on the previous three years before 2023-2024, you’d have been incredibly happy and would have paid 8.5M AAV.
My belief is that DuBois is overpaid enough that you’d have to add a first or equivalent to him just to get market value in a trade. I doubt he gets 8.5m on the open market and the Kings are probably kicking themselves for that decision. Giving him the money and giving Winnipeg Villardi/Iaffalo must be maddening</div></div>
If he goes long term, this is his last contract, and he's been budget friendly on his previous ones. Add to that the cap increasing significantly the next two years and no one's going to be taking budget signings for a while, previous salary comps are going to get thrown out because they represented much larger slices of the cap ceiling when they were signed. Dubois took a bit over 10% of the cap, and he was an RFA signing.
I would not be surprised to see Lindholm command at least 8.5, probably 9, as arguably the best center available for a long term commitment, given he's never had the health issues that Monahan has struggled with for years.

I don't know, they seem to like him and free agency hasn't been great under Sweeney. In regards to the top center, there's no top center available this year.

oilers pass. even if he would waive his NMC which he wont. the oilers would not move him he is to key to the build of the team.
RNH pks, on the pp, plays center or wing. give the oilers flexibility to play dri and mcdavid together.
If you look back at the brief times he was hurt in recent years the pp and pk numbers go down drastically.
he is just to important to move and is on a value contract.

Sign and trades like you're suggesting here don't happen. EDM passes. I also think that contract is a tad rich for Debrusk. If I had to choose between him at 5 * 5 or Foegele at the 3.5 * 4 he's likely in the range of, I take the latter.

Spent the last 3 years trying to get Crouse, Toffoli, & Chychrun . All 3 are in play today. 🤔
Would require Ullmark and Debrusk to be moved.
To many moving parts to make a couple of them happen.
More likely it will be a rather quiet day but who knows.

I'll admit I raised my eyebrows at the LA trade. But the fact remains, LA does not have the cap space for any trade that is equal cap money in vs out. So no from LA on this one.

I’m not nervous at all about DeBrusk resigning or not. That dollar figure is where a lot of good players will reside. I’d like to see him back personally and would love to reward him, but I don’t think it happens until we lock down our roster just like with Pasta last year
