@KevinWeekes tweet

“As I’m working the phones, I’m told ; @NHLBruins , @NHLFlames , @LAKings , @NJDevils are all in Goalie discussions, including some potential 3 way trade scenarios, it’ll be intriguing to see where this lands by deadline time.”

----

Been trying to play with what this four-way scenario could look like, and this is the best I have got. LAK were rumored to be looking for a goalie and front runners for Toffoli. BOS could sell Ullmark for a center. CGY wants a premium asset or pick. NJD needs a goalie. I am sure others could improve upon this….

CGY gives: Markstrom ($2m retained), Vladar
CGY gets: Clarke, Vanecek, LAK 1st, NJD 3rd

BOS gives: Ullmark, Grz
BOS gets: PLD, Vladar

LAK gives: PLD, Turcotte, 1st
LAK gets: Ullmark, Toffoli, Grz

NJD gives: Toffoli, Clarke, Vanecek, 3rd
NJD gets: Markstrom ($4m), Turcotte

Markstrom - Clarke, 1st
Vladar - Vanecek, 3rd

Seems pretty close. How would you change it?

Clarke isn't worth that much and you know Holtz has been connected like a hundred times

No, possibly on vladar for 2 years.

It's $10.7m coming in, with only $8.688m going out and we've got zero cap space.

I mean you specifically said they couldn't afford PLD and didn't mention vladar.

Yes, retention on vladar would make sense, or moving out a contract

Yeah, my bad on that one.

Only really JDB that would be moveable, but i dont know if he would get a good enough return.

Why would BOS, or any team for that matter, trade for PLD?

Both Calgary and NJD are at max retention spots, so would either need LAK to retain Vladar….or it’s a 5-team trade (!)

Using the four teams from Weekes tweet…and the needs/wants that I believe each team has….there weren’t many other options to add a center for Boston.

Very interesting. I just can't see Kings selling PLD after part of one season. Never know though.

I could see Boston taking in PLD. His play has been less than expected, but so has his role

I can also see Blake going “I don’t want this contract long term”

Pierre Luc Dubois and Cam Talbott (Rittich if he exercises his NMC) for Linus Ullmark and Jake DeBrusk

There may need to be other small parts added or retention on one year contracts

I doubt both GM’s have the stones to do this deal, but there is logic to it if they do

PLD would be so ballsy but if any team can get him to buy in it is 100% Boston

If LA were to do it, it would mean that Turcotte would take his third line center role.

That would be a good spot for Turcotte. If they don’t move out a center he’s a guy I’d be blowing up their phone with offers for as NJD.

“Cmon you know you want Brandt’s brother”

The three team variation i can see is

Ullmark going to Jersey.
Talbott staying in LA
Schmid going to Boston
Toffoli going to LA

My assumption is a pick going to LA (2nd or 3rd)

Blake and his goalie aversion comes to fruition

I'd expect that to be the case if anything. Apparently LAK is heavy on toffoli

Maybe. My belief is if you put Ullmark behind the defensive structure of the Kings, they would be flat out frightening to me.

People want to claim he’s a byproduct of the Boston defense. He’s improved his fundamentals 10 fold under Bob Essensa. He bails the team out as much, if not more, than the other way around

Good luck in your pursuit of Markstrom. It’s been a good couple of months discussing the possibility of a forward for Ullmark type deal or possibilities between Boston / NJD.
