If you actually read you dumb twat, it literally says on their twitter that they can add contracts to get as close to 81.5m (as many as 23 on the roster) and place him on LtIR for cap relief of whatever over they are (if they go up to 81.5 exactly it’s 5.8m in relief). They can then send those two extra contracts down to the minors and use the remaining space for injury call ups. It’s quite simple, I’m surprised this is going over your head. This doesn’t hurt Tampa at all, and while they have to pay Callahan still (whatever insurance doesn’t cover), it won’t count against the cap if they do the above. So use your brain for once and think business and see that Tampa can easily take advantage of it than ridiculously overpay for a failing prospect in nylander.</div></div>
Wow. It's so weird that TB traded Callahan. Especially since his cap didn't matter, right!?!?! lolzzzzz

Where is Nylander? Do you think he will make the team? If so where does he fit in and who is scratched?

state of the roster - my opinion
Well ****ing done. Best Sabres concept I've seen recently by a country mile. Just a couple thoughts...
Larsson isn't mentioned in the entire post - Are you assuming that he's headed back to Sweden as some people have reported? Those reports have been refuted by his agent for what it's worth. If he is back next year, I think he's their best 4C option with Girgs pushed to the LW.
You touched on it briefly, but I definitely like the second line more with Olofsson on the right side. He's a pure shooter and the right wing positions him to be a constant threat of a quick one timer. Johansson, as far as I know, has little history of playing RW and only mentioned ever playing LW or C in his media conference the other day. His game as a playmaker is also probably better suited for his natural side.
Another good option for the first line RW spot is Vesey in my opinion. I haven't seen him play all too much, but from what I've read he's a guy with a nose for the net that likes to hang around the netmouth and clean up the garbage. That could compliment Eichel and Skinner well as neither of them are best suited for that sort of game, and Sheary is a little small for that role. Vesey has enough goalscoring touch to finish the chances that Eichel creates - He'd be a dangerous passing option at all times when the puck is on Jack's stick in the offensive zone.
Again, really well thought out post and I enjoyed reading it!

This is, by far and away, the most insightful Sabre post I have seen.
Where I think an opportunity lies to move a Risto (it's coming it seems) or a Scandella, the Sabres are well positioned to perhaps upgrade the 2C position..... which seems to be to only real hole - and if Reinhart can transition into that position, it's filled.
I maybe a Leafs fan, but I absolutely love what Botterill has been doing. It's shrewd, and positions the team well moving forward.
Is this a playoff team? Debatable. But fornthe first tome in a decade, it seems they have a sense of direction.

Buffalo should be much improved with Kruger as coach and Johansson was a great addition for them, that weasel Vesey should help too.
Really think they should see what it'd take to get Eakin from Vegas, he'd be a solid addition for the Sabres and help them in both ends of the ice.

LTIR does not provide cap-relief. It only allows the Club using it to exceed the upper limit of the cap. I saw an example that showed TBs payroll at $80m (estimate), then if they put Callahan ($5.8m) on LTIR the would be able to exceed the upper limit of $81.5 by $4.3.
He does not come off the books all together. Also limits re-calls down the line and can cause problems along with acquiring salary through trades (like most Stanley cup favorite teams do around the trade deadline).
It helps, but it is not an ideal situation. Tampa would benefit from shedding the entire contract.

With NYR currently having Trouba, Fox, DeAngelo and Shattenkirk on the RD I find it very hard to imagine Ristolainen being the return if we send Buffalo Kreider and Vesey
But Thompson and a 1st is a decent start, would rather take a shot at Nylander then Thompson tho but that’s partly my Swedish genes talking

That's the main reason I don't want to get rid of him. Could be similar to a Tom Wilson or Brad Marchand. Everyone hates them but they are good

looking for bad d contracts
I would look at any contract with a NMC or NTC over 7 mil as a bad contract as a starting point. For the sharks that would be Vlasic and Burns. NSH Subban, MTL Weber, LAK Doughty, DET Dekeyser, CHI Seabrook, CHI Keith, MIN Suter are ones that stand out to me. Also whoever gives Eric Karlsson his asking price will be added to this list. Hope this gives you some ideas.
