Thread: Stamkos
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Chrismurtagh</b></div><div>I've never understood why someone would enact the NMC. If the team comes to you and is looking to trade you, wouldn't you think they don't value you as much as you should be? I get it's great living in Tampa, no state tax, and the team is awesome, but if it were me it would be tough for management to say we are looking to trade you and for me to want to stay.</div></div>

From a very superficial standpoint, he's contributing to the team success statistically and he probably feels like he's an important part of the team and there is no reason to trade him. And he'd be right in a sense. Having 2 one timer threats on each side (Stamkos and Kucherov) gives Point and Hedman open space since teams aren't as focused on them. If the entire game was just a powerplay, Stamkos could win the Rocket again cause with time and space his shot is lethal. He puts up points consistently, he's a huge locker room guy, he's the captain, he's a big reason for this team winning 2 straight cups. However, he plays 2nd line minutes 5 on 5, he doesn't get to start shifts in the offensive zone as much the 1st line, he's the third option when the team needs goals and he makes 8.5 mil. Next year Point is probably signing for 9 (QO) so he'd be the 4th highest paid forward on the team. I could only see him waiving if he's got a desire to play top line center again on a team that's just as offensively gifted like a Vegas. But I doubt it.
