Kane for Kane
If Kane was traded I think it would be the first time since Gretzky that a player who lead his team in both goals and assists was traded in what is not quite prime but not twilight of his career. Kane is a Blackhawk for life.

Stop Paniking.... The Boys are Alright
I don't like Kane either and its just a more for fun. I don't know if they will even make a move that is big I think they just need a defensemen to add some strength in the back end. I just happened to hear that the asking price for Kane is a prospect (hayden) and a first round pick. The other picks are because Chicago can't deplete their draft picks too much next year so needed to recoup a pick themselves.

Blues get Tavares
I don't think tavares is going to take the best chance to win approach in free agency. This is his moment to cash in. In all reality if he is really looking for a Cup win he may look at vegas, they have an extremely young team, a ton of stocked draft picks and no state tax, allowing him to make even more money. Also vegas needs a true superstar and they have the cap space to PAY THAT MAN HIS MONEY.

An NHL superteam
That team looks good on paper.... although maybe not plausible... remember there will be signings this offseason that may take some of those players off the market. Its hard to predict 2 years down the road. My big issue is goaltending. The back end is very offensively gifted but not the most defensive minded team I think you need to take either doughty or Karlsson off the roster and add in a higher end goalie and a alternative on D. The Knights also have a ton of assets in the draft after the expansion draft. I would not be surprised if Mcphee doesn't use some of those for asset acquiring.

CAPFRIENDLY
This is a bad idea..... Even Keith slowed down is on an amazing contract you couldn't find for anyone else. Seabrook hurts, but you have to live with it because no one else will take him. Your asking way too much for both Toews and Kane. To get a return of 3 first round picks you'd need a player of their caliber with more years left in the tank. Not saying Toews and Kane are done just saying they aren't as young as they once were. No team is going to want to give up future prospects (especially from draft classes that haven't been evaluated fully yet). Lastly as the commenter above said the hawks have room to improve in the offseason and that will make them a better team. The window is closing.... the Kids are alright.... lets cross our fingers and hope for the best.

It is December 7th and the hawks haven't made a single call up
you must also look at the other angle of this. Vinny is killing it in the AHL but if Chicago (struggling a bit right now) calls him up to the NHL and he struggles it may reduce his trade value. Sometimes a guy who has potential is more tradeable then a guy who is struggling on an NHL roster.

AJW0066 - the hawks are not going to sit their assistant captain. the hawks will be playing Seabrook every game.
I don't like the idea of putting debrincat and kane together. A big mean line can push them around because they are little guys I think you need a couple bigger bodies on each line. Not many lineups that feature 2 smaller guys are productive, someone has to battle for that puck.
I would like to see the lines like this, if hinostroza was in the lineup.
Saad Toews Debrincat
Kane Amisinov Schultz
Hayden Hinistroza Panik
Bouma Wingels Hartman
Keith Seabrook
Rutta Forsling
Franson Murphy

I hate how no one thinks long term when making a team..... too many prospects gone.... too many cap friendly contracts gone..... bringing in to many expiring contracts that will may or may not stay.... chicago is not the beast they've been before but they need to develop the young talent.... don't trade it away.... all the kids they have are going to be kept around on cap friendly deals.... that is much better then selling the farm for bigger expiring contracts..... Let Stan do what he does.... maybe a rental or two but don't give up young prospects.... look how often it hurts organizations....

Simmonds
I am a hawks fan and I hate this trade. I would love to have simmonds.... but the reason i don't like it is panik is a cheaper version of simmonds albeit not as good but still a similar role. Secondly Chicago is going to need guys like panik and Hartmann who can play fairly big minutes and are on cheaper contracts which Chicago needs. I would rather see them keep the team very similar and target a rental at the deadline.... preferably a D man and then look to add a piece or two in the offseason. Retaining young talented guys on cap friendly contracts is the way to the cup. Chicago needs to hold on to youth and talent. What do you think Simmonds signs for next contract? can Chicago afford to take that hit?

Oh and signing Doughty or Karlsson is not the best idea.... Im guessing Karlsson gets 12 million and Doughty gets 10 million. Hawks don't need 3 players eating up 30 million of a 80 million cap.... .add in crow keith seabs and saad your looking at 52 million of 80 million tied up in 7 players.... makes it hard to get depth.

Seabrook is not going anywhere. I am a hawks fan and Yes he is slow. Yes he doesn't play up to the contract he has. But he is not going anywhere. You must remember we are judging him solely based on on ice performance. we forget some of the intangibles he brings to the team. Don't forget that he was the one that calmed Toews down against detroit in the playoffs. He is not worth what he is getting paid. Which is why he will stay. The only reason to get rid of sea brook is to clear cap. the only problem is to get rid of him you will have to retain salary. Why sacrifice cap space to pay someone to play for another team. Just face it all of us hawks fans have to.... Seabrook is here to stay.... plus he hasn't looked as bad playing 5-6 minutes he will be valuable in playoffs.

Could It Work?
No it doesn't work. Seabrook is going no where. I am a huge hawks fan and I understand the contract is not the best. But Seabrook is not going to leave Chicago. He is still valuable to the team for some of the intangibles he brings and he is not going to be traded without really sweetening the pot and thats something the Hawks can't afford. Seabrook will play his contract out. If the Cap goes up like many rumour it to to 80 million all of a sudden the Kane and Toews contracts with 5 years left are much better contracts (lets remember these were signed when the cap was suppose to go up substantially but the increase was just minor) mix in some of the young talent that are not putting up big enough numbers to sign big deals will help give Chicago cap space for the next off season. Just imagine if the cap hits 80 thats 5 million.... thats a new winger on line one or two..... thats a top 4 d man.... I'm thinking maybe just wait because chicago will be fine.

Do you really think montreal needs a 8 million dollar and 6 million dollar 3rd and 4th line centre.
The only way MTL would even consider taken on Giroux 8 million is if plekanec goes the other way to even out the cap.
Also Giroux is definitely playing over Danault if the trade is plausible

Chicago Player Evaluations Quarter Mark Of Year
I agree with you exo2769. They can't give away any of the prospects in the system to get a Dman. when I say D men depth Im just talking a 4, 5, 6 type guy with a little more speed to help against the faster teams. Seabrook is going to play... he is a leader of the team and they aren't going to healthy scratch him. Adding some speed so against a speedy team like nashville Franson can be sat for a speedier, matched skill type player. A rental player that can be obtained for a draft pick.
Panic does ned to get going. That whole line started off really hot and then they cooled down. They need to dominate down low like they can and play their game. They have been looking better lately but they still need to put the puck in the net.
NickC1988 I think if debrincat was to move up in the lineup Id rather see him play alongside toews and saad and panik down to the third line. I may be being a little too old school when i say this but I don't like having 2 small body players on a line you need some guys that can go bang in the corner. I wouldn't mind seeing a line combination of :
Saad - Toews - Debrincat
Schmaltz - Amisinov - Kane
Hartmann - Sharp - Panik
Hayden - Wingels - Bouma
Keith - Franson
Forsling - Rutta
Seabrook - Murphy

Chicago Player Evaluations Quarter Mark Of Year
Ill play along as well
Hartmann - First things first he does not need more ice time. He is right where he belongs. He does well on the 3rd line. Scrappy player but don't expect a lot out of him on the score sheet. Lets remember of his 12 points 5 of them came in the 1st game against pittsburgh. Take that into consideration and he has 7 points in his last 24 games which is not as impressive as 12 in 25. His ice and role is very well done this year.
Panik - Everyone keeps complaining about panik as a 1 RW. Maybe lets think for a moment and say that Saad Toews Panik ISN'T line 1. They play big minutes but often against the other teams best opponents. this frees up Kane to play against the opposing teams 2nd line. I strongly consider the Schmaltz Amisinov Kane line to be line 1. I think people forget that the number with the line is exactly what it is its just a number.
Schmaltz - I think schmaltz has been the brightest star (Forsling is a close second) for the blackhawks this year. He is skating well and starting to build some serious chemistry with Kane. Schmaltz has an amazing hockey IQ and he looks and plays much better on the wing. Something I think Q has realized and maybe he shouldn't be called out for not playing centre but applauded for being such a strong winger.
Rutta and Forsling - I will do these both as one because they are similar. Both are great youngish d men. I think saying they are a top 4 is a bit of a stretch at this moment. Chicago biggest concern is defensive depth. Hopefully these two continue to develop and can become more consistent and play top 4 minutes.
Debrincat - This is the biggest surprise to me this season. I knew coming into the year he was a talented player with a lot of skill but never thought he'd transition so seamlessly into the NHL. There are moments when the 180lb Debrincat gets pushed around and hopefully with a couple off seasons of serious training that no longer happens. Great to see him develop but do not like the idea of him playing with Kane. I think having 2 smaller forwards on one line allows the other team to step up physicality and really shut down a line. We saw it with kane and panarin in playoffs and I hope we avoid that by keeping the two separated with some larger bodies out there to win battles.
One thing I would like to see chicago address
I want to see them add some form of depth on the back end. Maybe pick up a solid middle pairing d man so sea brook can be moved down the line up and Franson removed. Franson brings a lot to the PP but he is a bigger liability then sea brook is. Although they are both smart sea brook has more smarts when it comes to the game.

I agree the trade is not going to happen. Drop Nurse and Reinhart from the trade and sub in a edmonton 1st round pick possibly swapping a 2nd or 3rd for a 4th or 5th as well. I think then you may convince Buffalo to take Lucic's contract.

Seabrook blocks the trade to Arizona. Even if he did Waive you are not giving Arizona enough to eat that contract.
For some reason you've traded amisinov but kept him in the lineup.
Last thing I would like to say is the top 6 isn't the hawks biggest concern its the back end that needs help first. Any money being spent should be on the defence.

Montreal fans?
Hawks need to not make those trades they are losing two valuable pieces. the first being Panik who fits and plays well on a line with Toews and Saad (line just needs to get back to start of the season levels again). the second being Schmaltz who is beginning to be a great player to play off Kane. Plus these two pieces will be cheaper then the one player.
I do agree that hinostroza will be up sooner then later they just need to figure it all out.
