You don't understand cap compliant if you think teams (Vegas) take on overpaid players for no reason. Vegas can spend that money much better. Not having RNH makes the Oilers worse, and taking on Hagelin and his awful play/contract doesn't help them at all. Leafs need JVR this season more than pieces.

Soderberg´s salary + RNH´s retained salary cost as much as much as RHN´s salary from the beginning. Why downgrade the 3rd C position and pay as much salary as you did before?

No way any team takes on Russell´s contract.

The only team the wins this trade is the pens. I would keep RNH or deal him with Toronto along with Russel for JVR and another contract.
