If we were trading Holl and a 3rd for a bottom pairing RHD with retention I would rather try CLB and $4 MIL man Gudbranson. I would see if they would retain $1 MIL for Holl and simply getting out of that horrible contract and a 3rd team retain $1 the 3rd pick.
They are about the same defensively (read: kind of bad) but Gudbranson plays tougher and is an under rated fighter if the need arises.</div></div>
Fair enough, just heard some rumours about tor possibly having interest in Myers, and what a deal might look like.

I’d expect something like a 2nd and a lower end prospect tops for Boeser given his defensive struggles almost completely overshadow his production on offense</div></div>
Oh definitely no argument over the fact that meier is way better than boeser, but for value wise with the deal I offered here and going forward, I think it's fair. If NJ does end up getting Timo, I feel they would have to give up far to much, and then have to resign him to at least 1 yr 10 million, or long term, still likely in the 8 to 9 range..is that worth it in the end, versus a 2 year + playoff run of boeser?

You'd rather sure, but this makes NJ better in the end, if they are rumored to be after Timo, he's gonna cost a hell of a lot more than this

The Perfect Trade Deadline
Canucks have no need for Tyson barrie. And are not taking back salary in a luke schenn deal, unless it's for a young defenseman who needs a new start somewhere...like cal foote from Tampa for example.

I realize this..but why should the canucks do the bruins a favor by taking millions back to allow the bruins to add someone else if it's not worth it. To me this time of year at the deadline, especially for teams up against the cap like bruins. Having another team take on a cap dump, which smith is..nothing more, is worth more than what was proposed here.

Exactly.. thats what I was saying from the beginning. And saying that if the bruins wanted to add smith, they would need to add more than just lauko and the 3rd, since smith is a cap dump.

Ya. Allvin has allready made that statement, that they would prefer to keep those 3 down in Abby.. I think there's gonna be some more moves coming from the canucks in the next day or 2 here.

I dont think the Canucks really need any more centerman. They've got a few now and with the addition of raty, I think they're set for a bit, now defenceman yes..so change that around and maybe boston can make a deal work with canucks, but not what you've proposed here..sorry

No what I'm saying, is if you expect the canucks to take smith's contract on top of the 3rd and Lauro for schenn so that the bruins can clear cap space, boston would need to change the 3rd to a 2nd at the very least

The edmonton, and Vegas trades seem ok, the rest are no good. If canucks are retaining that much on boeser, they are going get more than that back in a return.
NJ has absolutely no need of any more LHD.. and even as much as I want Myers gone, even with half retained, Boston is not paying a 3rd

If you expect canucks to take smith as a cap dump, for schenn, you better be adding on more than a 3rd and Lauko

But the difference in severson and boeser is
Severson is ufa and 28 years old
Boeser is 25 still on 3 yr contract.
that makes a world of difference in trade value
