Agree about both your points on Lindholm and Blueger. But I think Toffoli is a definite top 6 upgrade over Mikheyev. Not sure they'll move Mikheyev to make the space though.

if AZ resigns in offseason (I love him as 5/6D, solid no flash but no mistakes), you can have him for cup run then
and forget the 7th but switch amon instead of 36yo AHLer at least something that has some glimmer of possibility

(CGY/VAN) - Lindholm for Kuzmenko, Brzustewicz, Jurmo, 2024 1st (VAN), 2024 4th (VAN)
The Nucks win because Lindholm was clearly the best center available this year and they are a much better team now. Great package for Calgary, generally speaking, but at the same time Van is win now mode.
They got the best center available, with teams that wanted him. Big dub.
As an aside, what does Boston do now? Dvorak? ..

Canucks pass. Would rather have an expiring Myers over Armia at 3.4M for this season and next. Kovacevic and the pick don’t make up for that extra year

Trade Deadline
Good trade idea just can’t happen because kuzmenko is gone we traded him Jan 31 to the flames in deal that sent 2 defencemen prospects and 2 draft picks 1 2024 first round and a 2024 4th round with conditions to the flames for Elias lindholm

(CGY/VAN) - Lindholm for Kuzmenko, Brzustewicz, Jurmo, 2024 1st (VAN), 2024 4th (VAN)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>areax91</b></div><div>It's hard to say whether Kuzmenko will rebound to his freshman year. But even so, two defensive prospects, a 2024 1st and a 4th in itself is a massive overpay for Lindholm. Lindholm is a top 6 player, sure, but worth a 1st, a 4th, and Brzustewicz who projects to be an NHL-caliber offensive defenseman?! For a forward who should be a 2nd and a 3rd or maybe a 1st round alone? Holy overpay Batman, the Flames are making out this one like bandits.</div></div>
It's not two defensive prospects.
Joni Jurmo is struggling in Liiga and likely won't get signed to an ELC. He almost certainly will never make it past the AHL.
Hunter Brzustewicz is on pace for 100 points in the OHL this year. Only 10 other defencemen have done that. ... Only 4 of those played more than 100 games in the NHL. Scouting just dropped and he's projected to be a 3rd-pair defencemen, not a star NHL player.
The 3rd only happens if the Canucks make it to the Conference Finals, which means the Canucks had a relatively good playoffs and they will be happy with the trade. Otherwise it's a 4th. Either way, the odds of them becoming an impact player in the NHL are slim.
It will be a late first in a shallow draft.
Andrei Kuzmenko's cap hit next year was going to hurt the chances of the Canucks signing Pettersson to a long-term deal.
It's a lot of pieces, but nothing critical for the Canucks. If the Flames get lucky, then two of those pieces will hit. If not, then they likely lost this trade.

I love how people downgrades the 1st after a trade (Most comments saying "It's only a late 1st who cares") but when you put a 1st rounder in an ACGM everyone's going wild.

Hot take, not all that big of a haul.
Kuzmenko was almost certainly viewed as a cap dump a lot more than people expected (but as I predicted NHL GMs did not buy into a 27% shooting %)

Really depends on how you view him.

(CGY/VAN) - Lindholm for Kuzmenko, Brzustewicz, Jurmo, 2024 1st (VAN), 2024 4th (VAN)
Vancouver wins this trade short-term because Lindholm makes an already strong team even stronger, and the Canucks should reach the WCF with him on the roster (plus extra time before the trade deadline to become familiar with his new team and teammates).
Calgary wins the trade if Lindholm doesn't re-sign and Kuzmenko regains his prior form or the first turns into a top player. Extra credit if the Brz guy pans out.
Calgary loses the trade no matter what Lindholm does if neither Kuzmenko nor the first become first-line players and the Brz guy flames out. (pun intended)
Vancouver wins the trade if Lindholm re-signs and excels for at least most of his new contract.
Vancouver loses the trade if Lindholm re-signs and then becomes Corey Perry 2.0.
Lotta balls in the air.

Kuzmenko is essentially a cap dump for Van, he was a regular healthy scratch and has another year at $5.5m cap hit. A late round 1st + 4th + low value prospects is a fair price for the return.

Divisional + Rival tax, plus an apparent last minute offer of the Rangers. It's pricey, especially given the early reports from media. But I can't say it's not a package that is warranted.
Kuzmenko was awesome until the coaching change meant he didn't fit. Lets hope Lindholm is a fit, because Kuzmenko could easily turn it around and make this look lopsided.
Winner TBD

People will complain that they could’ve taken cap dumps instead, but Hawks are really emphasizing locker room culture. They’ve been praising Dickinson for stepping up as a leader all season
