I'm happy for Dickinson, he definitely deserves this after being a committed Blackhawk for the last little bit. Is it an overpay? Absolutely, but these are the Blackhawks we are talking about. Seems like a good dude and a strong leader, plus it helps the Hawks reach the cap floor. I don't mind it at all

People will complain that they could’ve taken cap dumps instead, but Hawks are really emphasizing locker room culture. They’ve been praising Dickinson for stepping up as a leader all season

For future posters… please stop complaining it’s too much money. It’s a trash fire team that will need to reach cap floor and he’s signed for 2 years only. Relax. It fits everyone’s needs which makes it a win-win contract.

Nothing says let’s get the best pick than signing Dickinson and Foligno to 8 mill plus. Although they are key contributors to their focus goal.

That’s a great deal for the Blackhawks! Would it be a good deal for any other team? Absolutely not but they need to surround Bedard with good players and Dickinson is just that. Won’t affect them financially and will also help them reach the floor

Yes its a slight overpayment, but if you're a lottery team that has something like 40 million in cap space next offseason after the Foligno and Dickinson signings, who the hell cares?

They are probably still going to end up doing this next offseason anyway

Like for the Foligno contract, Chicago absolutely has the space to do this, however, too much money

Why get paid to take bad contracts when you could simply sign your own?

Every contract informs the next one.

Overpay Athanasiou, Foligno will want more.

They can and probably will still take cap dumps for picks. Mrazek, Johnson, Beauvillier, and Zaitsev contracts are coming off the books at the end of the season (among a few others), but these are the four big ones which is about 17.45 mil between the four contracts. Still a lot of cap to work with

I like the player a lot, not sure at this price but it’s not like they need cap space.

I wonder if Chicago would want reaves at $1.35 million?

He's obviously bad but he's a good locker room presence & protector.
