I don't think Kent said he wanted out. But like Chinakov, Jiricek, expressed frustration. Now the GM has been fired...so probably a clean slate.

Kent doesn’t want out. He literally never said a word about being demoted. And if we were to move him it wouldn’t be for this package.

That package would probably get you Damon Severson, but it's nowhere near Werenski.

I'd much rather be a team getting assets to retain on Coyle to ship him to a contender than be the team paying to acquire him. He's great, but he just doesn't fit CBJ's needs/timeline.</div></div>
I do think we need more glue guy leadership types, and I suspect he might be able to fill such a role; that's pretty much the beginning and end of any interest I would have in him. If he doesn't have that, I don't have the interest.

Lol what is that Werenski trade:hushed Every team in the league would offer more than that.

Columbus accept, but I don't think Severson or Winnipeg do.
EDIT: Looking at a more realistic option, I'd rather Columbus just sign Dillon as a UFA themselves rather than get Stanley.

We'll call that a "maybe" from the Jackets; Coyle <strong>might</strong> be the sort of vet we could use more of but I'm not yet certain. (I'm just kind of personally tunnelvisioned towards finding a second-pairing blueliner with the flexibility we have... :) )

becoming competitive
How is trading the jackets two best forwards make them competitive? How does retaining that much on Johnny make the competitive? Johnny is not getting dealt especially with that much retention

You guys really need to let the Boone Jenner obsession go. You’re worse than Leafs fans last year. Do you really want to be worse than Leafs fans?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMDannyB</b></div><div>I mean yeah sure everyone wants a 1C lol but Johnson doesn’t look like one and Jiricek reportedly wants out and hasn’t been developed properly so why would you get a 1C for guys who aren’t projected to be at the same level unless ur adding more to the deal?</div></div>
Jiricek story is overblown. He got a call up late and kind of struggled. The Jackets are taking their time with him. He doesn’t have much options so he is not going anywhere. Johnson, is like was said previously, currently injured. He is also still waiver exempt. I expect the new GM, assuming no big moves or signings, will start him in Cleveland next season and use this next season as a development opportunity so that this team is rock solid in 2025-2026 season. Fantilli is going to be really good but we still need another C. We don’t want Jenner having to play C.

2nd overall pick
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drambui</b></div><div>i dont want this or i wont think they trade back, but im willing to bet whoever we would draft at 2 would be available at 5.</div></div>
That would be the exact reason the Jackets would never make this move. The difference between 2 and about 8 is minimal. The Jackets won’t give up Johnson to move up for a player we could get at 5.

Johnson is recovering from major shoulder surgery. He won’t be traded this summer.
Also why would the Habs do this? Don’t you need to guarantee the best possible forward you can get?

Pesce's about to be a free agent. Carolina can't afford to keep him and all their other parts, and I doubt he is a priority to re-sign compared to some of the others. That's a huge overpay for his signing rights, especially with the way his offense cratered this year.
Ottawa and Columbus decline, of course.

That's why he's practically unavailable. He has such a high value for Columbus that any offer that they'd accept would be a gross overpayment.

Lmao Columbus isn't going to give up their 3.5 million dollar all-star captain for essentially Vancouver's trash. Like there's nothing of value for them in that package.
Overpay big time on the Toffoli and Zadorov contracts in my mind, could lower both by around 1-1.5 million.
Interesting Hronek concept, he's going to want 7.5-8 million long term but he may take a cheaper one year deal to hit the UFA market to score big money

You just buy Elvis out if you're going to retain $2.7M on him. Adding Chinakhov to Elvis 50% retained and only getting a 2nd back is a fireable offense.
