10 center targets ranked by likelihood
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>Congrats on being better positioned to win Corey Pronmans top prospect list and picking high every year for some reason.
I’ll take watching playoff and winning hockey rather than pursuing a subjective award.</div></div>
It's the simple reality of where the teams are. The Ducks are neck deep in a rebuild and nothing I or you do is going to change that.
Go ahead and propose a Zegras for X trade with the Bruins that actually makes the Ducks a better team. One that is more likely to make the playoffs and less likely to win league's best pool. That is the goal as you so accurately pointed out.

Players the canes would want in a Necas trade

All I’m saying is there is a Carolina radio interview where they spent a lot of time on the interview and the focus seemed to be more about line and powerplay with one comment on center ties to a question from a reporter and a generic answer from Mrazek.
Maybe you are right and it’s driven by a desire to play center. Maybe he won’t be happy if he’s not given a shot.
Lots of arguments to not trade for him, but he fits Boston’s stated desire to get scoring and speed.</div></div>
The center comments have been a thing in previous years too. So even if that wasn’t a primary talking point, there’s definitely been desire for that in years past where Necas himself has bluntly said it.
I think if he got top line consistent minutes with Aho and Guentzel and top PP minutes he’d be content bc his numbers would pop going into a big contract. Center likely won’t happen in CAR (or any contending team for that matter).

Friedman said he gets the sense that there isn't a path to him signing in Carolina, and it's because he wants to play center. I trust Friedman.

A few FAs and trades
Zero point in that trade for Boston. They want cap space or players that can contribute in their top six. There are better options than Smith that will cost the same in terms of AAV. And trading for him in addition using their best piece to get futures is not smart when other players are UFAs

It 100% is but it's also great for Boston. Necas is a 70+ point guy if you let him play his style. Probably a PPG guy if he's with Pastrnak and Zacha.

ROFLMFAO, what a hilarious comment especially comsidering Necas couldn't play defense vs timbits players. Also the fact that you think Necas and a late 1st = Tkachuk makes it even more delusional

I’d consider selling holtz instead of our 2025 1st to be selling low.
Some are higher, some are lower on holtz.
In the end it only matters what Tom Fitzgerald and Sweeney think he’s worth

Moving on from Debrusk
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>It’s a good idea. Not sure how much interest Canes would have though.
They were interested in Ully in season when Freddy and Raanta were both hurt, Freddy’s return was very iffy, they were in a Cup chase, down to a rookie and a waiver claim in goal. With Freddy back, and 3 goalies under contract, not sure the interest remains.</div></div>
My thoughts exactly, I think there will be plenty of goalie movement across the league this summer. I wouldn't be surprised if Carolina flipped Freddy to a team like Colorado or Edmonton who would see him as an affordable upgrade for draft capital. Waddle stepped down from the GM position and I think he was hesitant in season knowing this was his last run and gambled on either of those two coming back rather than taking a large piece of the locker room out to do it.

More even distribution
Could see this type of scenario happening, except Ullmark really seems to value his NTC and will use it as much as he can, and OTT is likely on it
If youre trading Ullmark for Chychrun, it feels like there has to be an extension involved, acquiring Chych would only free up 400k and only have him for one year. Optimal asset managment with trading Ullmark would be to:
1. Free up cap space
2. Acquire valuable assets that have little to no effect on the cap (draft picks/prospects)
3. Acquire a top 6F (preferably C)
4. Improve on LHD
In that order^
That defense would make a lot of fans happy, pretty strong all around

Leafs fan but if that's the return for Ullmark then I'm disappointed. Too many teams in need of a #1 to be okay with that return. Gotta be a 1st or a prospect they could plug into the lineup.

Bruce Garrioch has been pretty well connected to the Sens in terms of a lot of things but he said this is according to a league insider .
But the question is how well is he connected to the new regime of the Sens and new ownership? I’m not sure.
Dorion definitely used him as his main media guy before.
I don’t trust this source tbh

He traded a future 3rd for Andrew Peeke and Columbus fans basically laughed at him for it. Peeke looks like a bleeping bargain.
My guess is resolving both before free agency allows them to make an offer to DeBrusk before free agency. I’m not sure with the other players available that is a huge deal, but it is a nice to have.
My guess is an 8 year contract somewhere between 56m and 64m.</div></div>
Exactly, which is why I expect sweeney to focus on locking up Swayman 1st, and then moving Ullmark 2nd. If he misses out on that sweetener on ullmark, who cares.

For the record, a winning team doesn’t trade Pasta or McAvoy for McTavish. Interesting upside, but overrating young players is one reason the same teams are drafting in the top 10 year after year after year.</div></div>

I think you’d be just as skeptical of Bahl as we would Wotherspoon</div></div>
I agree with that. I think we're pretty much on the same page on this one,
Wotherspoon had a very good year this year, but concerns about if he can repeat it
Bahl can be a number 5/6 with limited upside to turn into a defensive number 4 at best. I think we're on the same page about his flaws, limitations, and strengths, and areas to grow.
And that he isn't a fit next to Peeke. Boston would probably have to play him alongside McAvoy or Carlo for him to be at his best, and then he'd be playing a quantity of minutes that would be better suited going to Lindholm and Lohrei.
