Oh cool okay thanks for that. You just normally assume the year after they're drafted that they're usually eligible. I'd be okay with him going nuts in the WHL and the Juniors but I'd still rather him help out what's already looking like a pretty great Belleville roster next year.

Oesterle is good but not for that much. It's also conditional on Smith letting Brännström play his preferred side.
Also did you watch the same games I did?? Formenton is absolutely a top 9 player. I get Soderberg as a signing but Greig will spend at least a year as an AHL callup before he cracks the top 9. I can see him playing with Paul and Formenton on the third line a couple years from now

Trading Benn
It's taking the ACGM Community WAY too long to discover that the Sens rebuild is over. They might not make the playoffs next year (they might...watch the wild card race), but hoping for high draft picks and taking on bad money and trading away top players...none of that is who we are anymore

Next year
I honestly think Zajac as the 4C would be such a shrewd move for a competing team. Especially after this year. Short term, low risk. Schwartz is an interesting choice - I would spend a little more (if he goes for that much) for Hoffman if given a choice. I also feel like they could spend more money on D and let Copp or Appleton play in the top 6

What it Sounds Like Holland is Doing
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ItWasIn</b></div><div>Ullmark is arguably the best option for teams looking for a young starter. I think he's getting close to 5 mill or 5 years of term on the open market.
I think RNH is gone. His options in EDM are to be a bottom 6 C, or play LW, this guy is a centre and teams will covet him. Minnesota and Columbus come to mind.
Tatar would make a lot of sense, the familiarity with Holland. Schwartz could be a fit too</div></div>
I agree I thought of Schwartz but he just hasn't been as offensively dynamic as other options recently. I do think Ullmark could get $5 mil on the open market, but considering he's still a little unproven and goalies are generally underpaid I don't think the above contract is unreasonable.

What it Sounds Like Holland is Doing
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeterChiarelli</b></div><div>With how vaccinations are accelerating in Canada and the general openness of the States right now, taxi rosters are going to be moot next season: trade Stalock to the Lightning for a minor piece - AHL or a 7th - and let Broberg and Holloway play in California. Turris can join them to keep his cap savings.
Samorukov is much more likely to see NHL icetime than Broberg: Dima was effective in the world's second best league before being forced out due to injury while Broberg finished his SHL stint on the bottom pair and limited usage. Samorukov's experience on North American ice is a substantial advantage for the young defender. Both should likely start in Bakersfield however.
Given the rumours regarding a Larsson extension in and around $3.75M/4y, I genuinely think that Holland might actually be willing to walk away from Barrie. Or the organization is going to make a massive mistake in trading Bear for pennies on the dollar and double-down on Barrie. I don't mind the Nemeth deal but it definitely opens up complications if Klefbom does indeed return next season.
If Smith comes back next year it needs to be at a discount: I never recommend betting on 40 year-old NHL players, nevermind goaltenders at that age. He needs to be financially moveable, be it by way of burying or dumping in a trade should the Oilers need to upgrade on him midseason. $1.05M or less.
I don't like the Armia signing. I'd rather see Kassian demoted to the 4th line and a better #3RW brought in. That's something the savings from Larsson>Barrie and a cheaper Smith can address.</div></div>
Apparently Taxi rosters are going to be modified to still exist in some capacity as some form of convenience for teams, but I'm not fully informed there.
Good to know about Samorukov. I know Broberg has been highly touted for awhile so I appreciate you telling me who's better right now. They'll both likely be playing in Bakersfield next year anyway.
Thanks too for informing me re: Larsson extension. I didn't know where they were with him. I agree I think Barrie had the luxury of getting secondary assists on two of the best players in the world, and also that Bear is SUPER valuable and underrated he's improved so much especially in the analytic department. He's the next top RHD imo for them, with either Nurse or Klefbom.
Apparently Smith is for sure coming back next season if they can agree on a contract. I think value-wise what you're saying makes sense but if his pitch his he's been playing great and will be insurance for whomever else they bring in it could be closer to $1.5 mil.
The Armia signing was me going with a more two-way bottom six winger to replace someone like Ennis, Chiasson or Kahun. I agree though if they go the better route and don't bother with Barrie then I would sign a better 3RW and bury Kassian on an improved fourth line

Oilers 2021 Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jacer21</b></div><div>Yeah I don't expect any of this to actually happen, but I think Wennberg and Coleman are the two guys the Oilers should try hardest to get this offseason. Palmieri is a proven veteran and could slide into the top 6 and Yamo could slot down if needed, but I don't expect them to sign him, there are other options out there. As for the 4th line, Kahun is good, he was just being played on the 1st and 2nd line most of the season when in reality he's more of a bottom 6 forward. Archie plays good defensively and is able to lay the body. He doesn't make too many mistakes. Ennis is extremely fast and played better than Neal, Chiasson, Turris, etc this season who were all on the 4th line just as often if not more than he was. Obviously it's not perfect but they won't really have to do a whole lot other than keep the other team off the board and try to chip in with a goal every now and then.
Appreciate the feedback!</div></div>
I appreciate the position. If I'm Edmonton I'd leave Palmieri alone (he's likely staying near NY cuz that's where he lives and is from), sign Coleman like you did but for the third line, and then go after a true top 6 winger like Hoffman, Hyman, or Tatar. You could get any of those guys for about $1 million more than that Palmieri contract

On average that's a third line salary total for a contending team. I also think that you're underrating Archibald - he's been one of Edmonton's only good two-way players recently. I agree though that they have to move on from Kahun

Interesting I completely disagree. I would say take away a first and its fair. Studnicka isn't a prime top C prospect, Senyshyn is looking like a career AHL callup, and Vladar has been good for like two games. In contrast you have a great two way center who is only faltering because 1. His team sucks and 2. because of that he's like a Patrice Bergeron who's being asked to create all his team's offense.
Also with the exception of this year (in which he was dealing with injuries) he's been playing closer to a 60-65 point pace over the 3 previous seasons. Once he's playing with Zadina and Vrana full time he'll be back at 60-70 points

Because the best offers available will come from teams outside the division (LA, Vegas, NYR). I'm not saying your offer isn't good, but I don't think Bergevin does it and I think the other teams are more likely to. The only way they would ever trade within division is if the offer was amazing and the others weren't great. Like Edmonton would never trade McDavid to Vancouver or Calgary
