In 3 years what would u change
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChristianA</b></div><div>I just have a feeling he's going to be signed because of jasper as they are childhood, or close friends</div></div>
I think MN offers him a contract and hope FJ rejects it so they can get a 2nd round compensation pick out of the deal.

Worst case scenario for Flames
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xertalz</b></div><div>people heavily overvalue prospects, especially goalies. Wallstedt probably has an equal chance at being a superstar goalie as he does being a backup his whole career or not even making the league. When you can get a proven fringe #1 center and a 2nd for that, you take it. If you're trying to win.</div></div>
The Wild aren't going for a cup right now so that's unwise and I definitely have to disagree with how likely Wallstedt is to be a stud or not. He played in imo the 3rd best league in hockey as a draft year goalie. We've never seen a tendie with as big of a role as Wallstedt. And it's not like he played bad at all either. He played quite well and has a really high upside.
Monahan; imo, is an overpaid, average 2C. So the contention argument doesn't make as much sense to me. Plus, the Wild have a very difficult cap situation coming up.

Kings to playoffs
I don't think that's enough for Fiala and I don't think that we're interested in Rielly.
It looks to me that except for unloading extras, our roster is set for the season, depending upon who makes the team out of training camp. I think that Byfield and Kaliyev (and perhaps Turcotte) start the year in Ontario.

MIN wouldn't even consider this IMO. A deal for Kaprizov with NJ would most definitely require Hischier going the other way.

I doubt L.A. does that and Anaheim declines.</div></div>
It's worse for the Wild. Or did you just gloss over Marner's cap hit?
Last thing the Wild need is two wingers making roughly $20M combined. (Marner + Kaprizov)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Oodz</b></div><div>Did u forget marner scored 94 points three years ago and was top 5 in points last year ? I guess ppl only remember what they want? Wild would take this and run</div></div>
No, I didn't. And no, they wouldn't.
I'm more than aware of how good Marner is as a player.
<strong>I simply do not care</strong>.
His current cap hit destroys whatever worth he brings on the ice when coupled with another winger who is likely going to cost $9M+ on their next contract in their own right. On a team that has enough cap issues as it is, and will have dead cap's of $12M, $14M and $14M for the next 3 years after this season.
Having $20M tied up into 2 players, who're both wingers, is economically unfeasible until the Parise/Suter buyouts go back down to a more manageable $1.6M per season after 2025.
So no, it's not a good trade for the Wild.

Wild decline. You can't get a roster player for AHLers, plus our center core is already weak enough.

No.
Hertl isn't worth a Top 50 prospect of Boldy's caliber. Not unless he comes with an extension already in place. If he does, then it's a different story and Boldy <em>possibly</em> is available depending on what the rest of the package looks like.
But people <em>really</em> need to start realizing that top 50 prospects aren't getting dealt, unless they're going for top six centers with <em>term</em>. Even then they've been somewhat untouchable of late. The ask for Eichel has been two blue-chip prospects and a couple of 1sts, which is a ridiculous price point to begin with, and so far GM's have steadfastly refused. Granted the situation with his neck makes that understandable, but still. Most seem willing to move one blue-chipper for Eichel, but nothing beyond that. I mean, I love Hertl, but he isn't better than Eichel and is distinctly a tier below him.
So, can we please stop overvaluing centers now?

Another Approach
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChristianA</b></div><div>Why would wild trade Joel Eriksson Ek for eichel. Come on. Like especially after signing him to 8 years deal.</div></div>
I know It would be totally doing Ek dirty. I love Ek, he and Kaprizov are my two favorite players on the Wild. It's more about trying something else that hasn't been considered. I really want Eichel on this team but I can't find a way that makes sense. So it probably isn't going to happen. Maybe Wild get lucky and Rossi comes in ready for the NHL like Kirill was, not likely as he doesn't have the years in the KHL that KK had to prepare, but if he did I'd never think about Eichel again.

Or Zuccarello, for that matter -- before his M-NTC kicks in, it's a pure NMC.

It never ceases to amaze me how Buffalo guys persist with this delusion that Las Vegas, a team with cap problems, would include one of their two cheapest NHL-quality defensemen in any trade.

1) Olofsson doesn't carry that kind of value.
2) Before you say it. Zuccarello <strong>is not</strong> a cap dump.
Wild say no.
3) Colin White>>Ryan Johnson. Even if White needs a change of scenery, which is debatable, Sabers need to add. Likely just a 4th or something along those lines, but still.

I would much rather keep Zuccarello for half the time at a similar cap hit but to answer your question, probably not in year 1. Also, most of the other trades are not good either

I would hope Guerin could get more for both players but maybe other GMs see he has to move out cap and take advantage of that. Hoping someone would take the Zuccarello contract next year after his NMC converts to a 10 team NTC.

Greenway should be worth a late 1st, roughly. Especially if he builds on last year. That value is too low for him.
Dumba is worth significantly more than just a late 1st. Given the fact what top 4 defenseman seem to be making these days, Dumba's cheap by comparison. The 1st alone doesn't cut it. More needs to be coming back to the Wild than just a low 1st.
