I thought that Sonny would be a very likable player in the minors for NY, as a hometown boy.

Sign and trades don't very much unless its for the 8th year of a contract. The Habs could trade for Murray and sign him to that exact same contract if they traded for him.

I don't know man... I think MB would expect a bigger return for Drouin. I would like Murray, but Drouin is not the piece you will get

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>djbaker0513</b></div><div>So you are letting Korpi & Murray just walk away? The only reason to sign Milano is to trade him. He is done in Columbus. Jacket will not be signing Mrazek either. You also have to give Ottawa the 1st round pick in 2020.</div></div>
I think Murray and Korpisalo would be a good package trade to Montreal for either picks to make up for keeping Duchene, or for Drouin if the Jackets don't keep Duchene and they can shake him loose from Bergevin. The Habs were unhappy with him to end the year, but he was a high profile acquisition so perhaps they give him more time and just move the picks. It's a team that needs a steady strong skating LHD to pair with Weber and backup goalie to actually win some games when they give Price the night off.
I also agree Milano is heading for a change of scenery trade. I think a team like Vegas who will need young cheap players coming up and have the picks to spare would be a good trade partner.
They may go after a goalie with starting experience to allow Merzilikins to ease his way into the NHL. I think a guy like Varlamov will come cheaply and would be willing to take a short term prove it contract. They could also take the trial by fire approach and keep both he and Korpisalo and see if either can be starting NHL goaltenders.

they don't have rights to sign an 8 year extension until march 1st. That's the rule. Which explains why players like Skinner and Stone weren't signed right away and will be done soon.

This is better than some that I have seen at forward.
I like the idea of Skinner replacing Panarin. Hoffman or Lee or Eberle would be a good choices too.
D and G are still a bit weak.
D is still inexperienced, I would like to see one more solid veteran in there to stabilize things
Mrazek is not that good, and Korpi has struggled with GAA and S%.
Maybe even signing McIlhinney back as the backup, he is playing very well this year in Carolina.

I don't think CBJ needs to sign MD. They got two 19 year old C chopping at the bit to get some ice time here.
I respect they went for it. It didn't cost them all that much, a late round 1st and 2nd. No big deal.
They need to find a really good winger in FA.

What you think
Korpi's foot long sub should be cut down to a 6 inch sub ($1,250,000).
Werenski, in my opinion, hasn't earned his long term contract yet. His only good year was year 1. They should bridge him at 2 years for $5M.
Kincaid? He is a back-up, like McIlhinney was. $1,250,000 max.
Dzingel should probably get at least $5M, based on his production and connection to the city, especially if we are trying to get him to re-sign here.
Duchene, probably $9M would lock him down here.

Resigning Everybody
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Let's forget about Panarin wanting to play in a major market for a minute.
Here's the reality of what these guys will get as UFA's and unless the Jackets win a cup or at least make the conference finals, it's hard to imagine anyone taking a discount to play in Columbus.
Panarin = $9.5M to $11M
Duchene= $8M to $9.5M
Dzingel = $4.5M to $6M
Bob = $9M to $11M
By moving Wennberg and Foligno, and given that you didn't change the cap to $82M or $83M, there is money on the table for everyone to re-sign, but it's going to be at least at the numbers I showed above on the low end and more likely somewhere in the middle of those numbers.
Also, teams do not put 20 players on the ice as it leaves no room for injuries and even 21 players is rare. So there's at least another $1M to consider to bringing it up to a minimum of 21 players.
Bottom line, it's doable to re-sign everyone for 1 more year before all the ELC's hit, the problem is the Jackets are screwed the following season so for that reason, it's highly unlikely the big 4 UFA's all re-sign and could see all 4 leaving if the Jackets don't make it beyond a round or 2 in the playoffs this year.</div></div>
Not to mention he didn’t re sign Murray or Harrington, arguably 2 of the better defensemen this year. Bob and the team showed once again last night they cannot rise to the occasion in big games. Intensity level needs to be there from the start. Jackets were 5-13 against the other top 8 teams in the conference as of one week ago. Ironically enough the only team they did well against up to that point was Washington, at 3-1. They were 2-12 against Pit, Mon, NYI, TB, Tor, Car.
This reason coupled with potentially losing Bread and Bob for next to nothing led Jarmo to go all in.
The Jackets need to say goodbye to Bob and Bread. Sign Duchene for $9m & Dzingel for $5.5m.
Trade Wennberg and buy out Dubi. Duchene & Dubois will make a nice 1-2 punch for many years. Sign a Skinner, Eberle or Lee in UFA, and keep Kincaid or upgrade slightly until you see where Elvis and Veeti are when they come over. Korpi has shown this year he is not the long term solution in net.
Other GMs seem to be able to part with assets for picks. Jarmo seems too attached to players that he can’t acquire picks very well. Look at other good teams, they make trades that help team by buying for a need, but they also are able to sell players for a need to. Jarmo just hasn’t done that yet.
I am hoping he can sell Wennberg for a couple picks, but his stock is dropping quickly.
Interesting stat...The Union Blue is 9-4 to date this year against the current 8 top teams in the Western Conference.
