Chicago. A team actively trading anything with a pulse for picks. Is not going to trade picks to get guys who have a pulse

Thread:
Just budget team things
The last few off seasons, the Senators make a bunch of noise about adding "top 6 forwards" and "top 4 defensemen", then we end up with pieces like Derek Stepan and Michael Del Zotto. Here is this year's version of that bargain bin shopping. The Senators are a budget team. They want to ice the best players they can under their real money salary budget. They do not care about cap, since they won't be at the ceiling. The Flyers are a cap team. They apparently want to compete under Tortorella. This trade frees up nearly 6 million in cap space once they bury Del Zotto.
-Del Zotto is negative value due to his cap hit.
-Despite being a 20 goal scorer, no one aside from Arizona, Buffalo, or Ottawa is likely to take JVR because of his bloated cap hit.
-JVR has a 4M base salary. This trade happens in July, after his signing bonus is paid.
-Del Zotto has a 2.25M base salary. He is a sunk cost, since no one will trade for him.
-This means Ottawa gets JVR for +1.75M in salary. That is a very good deal. Every team in the league would sign JVR for 1 year 1.75M. They add approx. 6M in cap, but that is irrelevant.
-Philadelphia will bury Del Zotto. Therefore, they free up about 6M in cap. A tremendous amount of space.
No picks are exchanged, because this is equally beneficial to both sides due to how skewed his cap and his salary is. He does not have trade protection so he cannot save himself from being relocated to Carp Ontario.

Give Me Opinions
Dallas has zero need to do this. They give up a middle-6 winger, future top-4 LD, and a 1st Round Pick for a starting goaltender that they don't need. He comes in and is instantly the 1B/Backup to Oettinger. Dallas would be foolish to spend $10M+ on their goaltenders.

So here’s what you’re doing, you’re having the bruins trade for a position they don’t need, while giving up their best player at a position they desperately need.
Absolutely not.

A late 1st rounder and an aging Steal doesn't do it for Tuch. When healthy Tuch is a really good power forward winger. Not to mention Staals contract, so pass.

at this point, I think the Oil does it. Clear cap and get another option? Holland signs off on this in an instant.
My guess is they get 3 back up goalies at the deadline and rotate until someone sticks!

Could this work
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dutchies</b></div><div>There's not going to be a first for Lehkonen (IMO), but in order for either of these guys to get a first it's going to have to come with 50% retention.
That being said, Hajek doesn't do anything other that being a throw in in a deal, but Cuylle could develop into a nice piece.
I'd say add 50% retention to both players, add a 3rd or 4th and add in another prospect or young player that:
1 - Interests the Habs
2 - NYR are willing to part with for these pieces</div></div>
Artturi Lekhonen, 26 year old forward, Going RFA next Season so the team who get him will be able to control is contract right. A average of 27 pts - 13 pts - 28 pts with 13 goal this year. So your saying that MTL can have a first round pick for him ?? cause if i look into the pass for some trade of equal player they did get a first round + prospect.
NJD Nolan foote and 1 round 2020 or 2021 -Tampa Blake Coleman 28 year old forward, had 31 points (21 goals, 10 assists) in 57 games Average 32 points for the last 3 years
SJS First Round pick 2020 and Anthony Greco - Tampa Barclay Goodrow 26 year old forward, 24 points (eight goals, 16 assists) in 62 games Goodrow average 20 to 26 points for the last 3 years
The market may be more calm this year but i feel that if Goodrow and Coleman have been trade for that price that Lekhonen should atleast have a return on the same level or near that. And i'm not saying that because i'm a habs fan. Lehkonen trade value is at is most high at the moment and with how he have play this past 2 or 3 weeks that a good display on how he can help a team.
In fact i'm starting to think that maybe Trading Lekhonen could be a error and i do like better having him on the lineup them a armia for exemple. At 3 to 3.5m for the next 4 or 5 years could be a good idea to keep him.

LA isn't going to trade him and the Jets shouldn't be targeting LD with one of their best trade chips. Bjornfot is great and all, but just not needed compared to other positions. Why add to their deepest position when they could add to a position with shallow depth?

He's Montreal Kreider of the ranger. Maybe not on how many goal he can score but the kind of player style he's.

Drouin to NSH no retention
I think you might want to wait until the Trade Deadline next year before trading Drouin. We’ve yet to see what he can do under Martin St. Louis. If that’s a huge help, who knows what could happen next year and what his value could be to the Canadiens or another team.

Thoughts - corrected
Honestly, I think the return is a little high.
Iorio is a really good prospect, most people underrate him. He's 6'3" over 200 lbs and extremely mobile, and he's still only 19.
With Mantha coming back shortly, I'm not sure where Rackell would fit in, esp in their top 6 - which is where he needs to be if they are giving up this much.
I don't think he supplants anyone of Ovie, Baskstrom, Wilson, Kuz, Mantha and Oshie up there.
I also think they need to target a D over a top 6 forward, and maybe look at cheaper options for the bottom 6.
