Well, you're clearly wrong about the upgrade from a bottom sixer to a top sixer not being worth more than Hallander, and I think you're looking at this trade incorrectly.

I think that your analysis is led astray by the misconception that Kerfoot, Hallander and Kral have some trade value to Los Angeles. They might, to some team like Boston or Pittsburgh which needs depth players and has a shallow prospect pool, but Los Angeles isn't deficient in either area. Kerfoot wouldn't fit at center because we have Vilardi, Turcotte, Byfield and Anderson-Dolan coming up and he wouldn't take Kempe's place at LW because Athanasiou is a faster and cheaper alternative. Hallander isn't a better prospect than Kaliyev and Grundstrom is already maturing into a mid-6 LW, so he's well ahead of Hallander in development. Kral isn't in the top 3 of your own LD prospects and wouldn't be higher than Kale Clague, Cole Hults or Kim Nousiainen on our LD prospect depth chart.

In short, I think that the right way to look at this proposed exchange is that the difference between Kempe and Kerfoot is more than a first, and Iafallo is worth more than a second and two B prospects. In particular, I think that you should strongly reconsider your assertion that the difference between Kempe and Kerfoot isn't Hallander. Kempe is faster, two years younger, cheaper and under team control for twice as long.

But we're still friends.
