Thread: Need Help
I'm not a huge fan of Tobias Reider apart from his name, I also think that dumping 3 bad contracts for 1 mediocre player is very unrealistic, yes Arizona is trying to hit cap floor, but to take on bad contracts, they'd want even more, so I'd scrap that, trade Kunitz to Winnipeg for a 2nd and a 4th, they have a lot of forwards walking this year, and Kunitz fits their play-style pretty well, buy out Scuderi, its the cheapest option in the long run, and Spaling can go somewhere for a 3rd. Moving on to the Oshie trade, adding Maatta is pushing it heavily in the favor of the Blues, Oshie isn't worth as much as people think he is, hes a solid 2nd liner with good defensive skills, not a mega star forward like the Olymipics made him out to be. Now a lot of rumors has said just Sutter for Oshie and Rattie, I'm inclined to believe that that is very close to believable considering St. Louis has made shady moves in the past, and the need for a solid 3rd line center is in high demand, and considering St. Louis is looking to trade 2 of there centers this summer (Backes, and Backlund) Sutter seems even more valuable to them, they honestly have no use for Bennett sadly, their forward depth at wing is amazingly deep, I'd instead throw in a mid round pick, no higher than 3rd, which gives them future options to fill their wants/needs. Tikhonov is a weird animal, when he played in Phoenix, he wasn't really spectacular, I understand that yes it's Phoenix everyone was pretty bad, but giving him almost 2 mil seems a bit much, he wants to play with either Panarin, or Plotnikov, and considering Chicago's cap issues, he'd likely sign with us at around 1.2-1.4 mil for 1 year as a bridge deal, if he performs, more money, if not we can decide what to do with him next upcoming July. Another rumor that's been floating around is Harrington for Columbus' Kerby Rychel, I would certainly welcome that deal with open arms, Rychel is a scrappy scorer who and rifle it from just about anywhere on the ice, and he's not afraid to stand up for himself or his teammates. if we could pull that off, send him to WBS for another year, I feel he'd be an excellent forward in our top 6. Now Brad Richards is an interesting acquisition, at 3 mil, he would provide solid scoring and given his linemates, that'd be a very solid line, but I don't think Richards would want a role as 3c, it's part of the reason he was unhappy in New York, and didn't get along with the coaches. A more reasonable option would be Shawn Matthias coming off a decent year, and would come at around 2.2-2.5 mil, hes a very responsible player, and has excellent possession numbers, he'd be a very good defensive option for us at center on top of being an offensive tool with the right linemates. Eric Fehr, and Derrick Roy also fit into this category with the exception that Roy is more offensively inclined than the other two options.
