Fitzy did not even call him up to be a black ace in the playoffs. He is waivers eligible next season and there is no shot he makes the roster next year. Might as well get something of value for him, even if it is not much.
No team is paying a 2nd or 3rd for a defensemen who is 23 and has no NHL experience, unless you are a B prospect or Jimmy Vesey (out of college). He is none of those. I would be happy to get a mid round pick back, but it is clear Fitz does not value him much. There was a lot of intrigue about him at the deadline (alongside Okhotiuk, Muk, and Vilen) and there may be still some interest out there. 6th is completely fair.

Is Hockey Prospecting's 6th best defensive prospect.
Has very strong 5v5 numbers.
Young RD are sought after.
And has a good chance of being our 3RD next year (as Nemec is kept in AHL to preserve slide).</div></div>
Walsh got over half of his points on the powerplay this year. He is not great defensively and struggles in even strength scoring. There are opportunities for sheltered third pair PP quarterbacks in the NHL, it just won't be in Jersey and I am hard pressed to believe he will fetch anything near a mid round draft pick.

Sheltered 3rd pair power play QB? Struggles at even strength? What?
That does not describe Walsh’s game at all.
He is not a power play specialist (wasn’t even PP1 for most his time in AHL…usually was Russo). If anything, he is a possession style 5v5 specialist. Walsh had more points even strength (24) than on power play (16) this year (and last year too). And had 60% GF% at even strength. Last year, he was on-ice for only 8 goals against. Not sure where you have gotten this about Walsh, but to anyone who follows this team, it’s gonna sound pretty far off base.

Also, since this is an ACGM for Arizona, I would recommend bring this topic up on the <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/devils">Devils forum</a>

1st and 2nd round picks are about equal value but this draft is a lot deeper so the picks in this proposal carry more value than the ones in the Eichel deal.
And Tuch wasn’t who he is now when he was traded. Yes he was still worth more than Villeneuve, but with the difference in value in the picks it’s pretty damn close to the same value as Eichel.</div></div>
Those are some crazy valuations you’ve got. I take it you’re a Leafs fan?

Missed the playoff 9 of the last ten years and the organizational plan is to play in a college arena and lose for the next 5 years. Their best player wants out. Their best prospect isn’t signing. Their owner is up on charges. Arizona doesn’t do much right and I’m not sure when losing for 15 years and accumulating picks made any GM a genius. Any idiot can do that.

How’s it crazy when everyone knows it’s a deeper draft? So this years picks are obviously worth more than the 2022 picks that Buffalo got.. not crazy at all.
I agreed that Tuch was more valuable than Villeneuve. But what I was saying was that since the picks this year are more valuable than last years, it helps lessen the gap. When Tuch was traded he wasn’t extremely valuable. He was good, but he wasn’t anywhere near what he is now.
Krebs and Minten were both prospects. Krebs never had more than 68 points in a season and Minten never had more than 67 points in a season. Krebs had one year where he had 60 points in 38 games so you can give the offensive edge to him, but Minten is far superior defensively at the same stage than Krebs was. So they’d have about equal value.
Not sure where you’re seeing the “crazy evaluations” at here and that doesn’t matter what team you’re a fan of. Just know the players and the value of picks.

Like Crouse, but Leafs shouldn't be trading good young assets. For 4.3m you can find a LWer almost a s good. Seems foolish to trade 20 goal Jarnkrok

We DO NOT "have to go into the playoffs". Please forget that entire notion. Bedard does not change the rebuild plan. He possibly speeds it up a bit, but that will have to happen organically.
