Marner deal that can work

I mean if your 2026 1st is in the top 5 something has gone horribly horribly wrong lol - would rather have the 2025 pick with top 5 protection though

pure delusion to ease the pain
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CHAR</b></div><div>Pieces that fill in holes on the roster, which is intentionally vague. The Ducks are flush with high draft picks and top end prospects so you're going to have to give something other than that to pry a 30 goal / 60 point player off their roster
Let's look at your trade. Ducks don't need the Russian goal tender because they just signed Buteyets to his ELC. Reaves is a pure cap dump for the Leafs and completely redundant with Ross Johnston. Kampf is no better than Isac Lundestrom. The Ducks don't want any of those pieces.
I appreciate the response and honestly don't really have a rebuttal, I agree with pretty much anything. Only thing I will say is Gibson isn't going to be a part of the contending window either and Terry can be replaced. Assuming your prospects develop on schedule, you'll be in playoffs in 2-3 years and be serious contenders in 5. At that point, Marner is 32. I think that Marner will have greater longevity than JT considering his skillset. But I do agree that the cap dumps (Reaves, Kampf) aren't helpful for you, I just factored that into the price of the trade.</div></div>

Only thing that worries me about Meier is 4P in 11 playoff games - we are basically just trading non-playoff performer for non-playoff performer and I don't think it really benefits either team, especially considering you'd have to give up Marino

What do you think the price for Terry would be? Or, say the Ducks are interested in Marner, what do you think would be a reasonable price?

Matheson > Guhle right now - which makes the difference inside your window.</div></div>
I'm not saying the package you put together is bad, I'm just saying to get Nylander it would have to be a gross overpay. Also Leafs window is probably next 5 years, I think they need to take Stars approach where you have a mix of players on ELC, emerging primes, and current primes. That's where younger players like Guhle/Slaf come in, playing well above their ELC value (but totally understand why Slaf is 100% no lol)

Get Nylander
I see the vision, and this would certainly put the Habs in a playoffs spot, but the Leafs obviously decline. To get a top 5 winger entering/currently in his prime who is locked up long-term is borderline untradable. To get Nylander would be to overpay on whatever Habs fans would consider an overpay, which obviously you wouldn't do (I wouldn't either if I were a Habs fan).
Something along the lines of Guhle/Slafovsky/mid 1st would be what the Leafs would ask for at minimum.

Marner trade only happens assuming he extends, also I keep forgetting Kampf /Jarnkrok have NTC's that is insane kudos to their agents.
