Guentzel to Vegas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jfkst1</b></div><div>Dubas sounds like he is listening to anyone except the core four. Guessing he wants to retain 50% on Guentzel this year and get a sign and trade package for him much like Meier got. He explicitly said he wants to get younger around the core and while Guentzel is very good, he is approaching 30 soon.</div></div>
Do you have an idea who could be interested in Guentzel then? I dont really see where the interested contenders could sign him long term for more than 8 mil.
Maybe Seattle if they want to make a move for a star player after 3 more quiet years. Or detroit, but they already have Raymond, Seider Kane as free agents.

Guentzel to Vegas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Imagine874859</b></div><div>Pens decline all 3. The value isnt there in any of them. We'd be looking at Brisson, 1st for starters and one more piece like Korczak, Roy, Dorofeyev. His injury is only until 2 games after the TDL, howver he's already skating and traveled with the team for our canadian road trip</div></div>
Oh okay, thats a way sooner return than what I last heard. This will definitely raise the asking price.

Guentzel to Vegas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jfkst1</b></div><div>I would expect Dubas to retain 50% and get better offers. No reason for him to try and trade Guentzel without retention. Also, why are you adding roster players for a contender? PIT isn't in a playoff spot hence why they are selling in the first place.</div></div>
I am not to much into what the Penguins want to do, but with their recent form and being the first team in the hunt for the last wildcard/the 3rd metro spot (P%) I wasn´t sure how commited they are to selling and that they might only be interested in a trade if it helps them right now. Crosby and Malkin still seem to be good enough for the "just get in and see what happens" mindset in the playoffs.
If they just want to sell for as many futures as possible, you´re probably right, you could ask for more for a (retained) Guentzel!

Another Col-Mtl trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>YesThisIsFlo</b></div><div>Montreal is already retaining on 2 contracts (Petry and Edmundson), and since the maximum is 3, they can't do both Monahan and Allen.</div></div>
Oh sorry, didnt saw this. Then you would have to get a third team to retain a mil or go with just two extra players to make it work cap wise.

CBJ continues the retool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stevo989898</b></div><div>Terrible trade for the oilers, sorry.</div></div>
I totaly agree, but I think thats just the price you would have to pay if you want to move Campbell and get a solid goalie in return.
I dont think any team even considers a move just to take one Campbell alone for less then at least a first and a 3rd/4th round pick. They brought themselves in the position to be in need for a terrible trade if they want to make this move at goalie and the other teams know that.

Oilers getting ready for the playoffs
I would generally agree with both of you. The Oilers are looking good right now, so there is no need to go panic mode and change the whole roster. I am no fan of trading away every asset either, thats why i didnt went for guys like Saros or Vatrano, who would change the chemistry in the roster suddenly taking huge impact roles and would leave the team with literally no future assets. But i still think there are holes in the team to adress, and while McDavid and Draisaitl surely want a long term plan on being competitive in Edmonton, they also know that they are in contention right now and want to see the management being active to improve their chances, as it will be difficult to remain a top contender for years when the two of them will likely make 30 mil combined with their next deals.
Trading Ceci to Tanev is the big impact move here, as i think he is the better defenseman and could also have a huge positive influence on Nurses game. If you look at the last 4 cup finalists, 3 of them had at least one of these big trades:
Vegas: Barbashev
Florida:/
Colorado: Lehkonen and Manson
Tampa: Hagel and Paul
Mabe the proposed trade with San Jose creates this feeling of "trading every future" because getting rid of Campbells contract alone is so expensive. I just think thats a price you have to pay going forward (or you choose to keep the futures but limit your cap space with the buyout). Blackwood is the solid second goalie you need, at least for the case Skinner gets hurt and maybe he can get hot and be the better goalie. Duclair, who is not having a great season, is more like a bet, if he can imprve in a new environment with a player like Leon as his center. This depth moves (like Vegas made with Blueger or Quick) can be huge, if you just look at all the injuries Florida had after playing three rounds of playoffhockey last year.

Kenny magic
Maybe not Ottawa but there will be possibilities to move Ceci
I absolutely agree that the Karlsson trade as this whole AGM with the free agnet signings is pretty Oilers friendly and probably not very realistic beacause i wanted to make Karlsson work. Maybe upgrade the third rounder to a first and we are getting closer. Nonetheless, even with Karlsson playing lights out Norris level this year, his value is still harmed by some factors:
-even with retention, still a long and expensive contract
-32 year old, injury prone defenseman who played three "meh" seasons before this major bounceback, no one would have thought about touching hte contract this offseason
- trading a long contract during the season, sharks know there is not much cap flexibility and they have to be cooperative if they want to make it work now
