I’d think it’d be the exact opposite. The team taking the player has no leverage in a deal like this. Chicago could easily trade him somewhere else. If anything, WPG would have to pay MORE since they’re a divisional rival.

Pretty sure they can’t offer him 8 years since he hit UFA status.

Forget being paid to do it, Melnyk won’t spend 6mill a year. Unless Loui has one of those Hossa contracts.

I agree that the space should be used for somebody, but this is also an extra year down the line. If these guys are NHL ready, you can’t keep them in the minors.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>krakowitz</b></div><div>I think it would need to be a pretty substantial package to entice a team into taking Seabrook's contract. I'd honestly consider that to be one of the worst in the league, and I see Beaudin + a 2nd being the bare minimum required for this to happen.</div></div>
Reasonable. But Seabrook isn’t just dead cap space like most people think. He is still an effective shut down guy, he just has moments (a lot of moments) where he gets beat because of speed. Also, he is still capable of putting up 10-15 goals as well.

This draft as a whole is quite unpredictable from the 3-15 range though and I like it</div></div>
I really like the situation too. Byram or Turcotte for sure are my picks.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>krakowitz</b></div><div>I do like the idea of using Beaudin as bait in a trade if Byram is drafted (which he absolutely should be). I think it would take more for someone to take Seabrook's contract, but it does make a lot of sense. A top four of Byram, Boqvist, Gustafsson and Jokiharju would be great for such a long time.</div></div>
What more do you think should be added? Maybe upgrade to a 2nd?

Kruger is taking a roster spot away from young guys. Highmore, Entwistle and even Johnson might get another shot.
Regarding Caggs, I would grab Haula from Vegas to fill the 3C.</div></div>
Touché on Krüger. Sounds good with Boqvist, and we might as well keep AA if we’re gonna give up assets for Haula.

You didn’t get the joke. I was referring to Ken Holland heavily overpaying for his veteran players. I personally wouldn’t sign Hagelin for more than 1.5. That’s even pushing it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Kruger is not going back 1st and foremost.
Boqvist is going back to London.
Perlini is signed for about $1M too much.
Caggs isn't a center so to speak so not sure he would suddenly move to the 3C.
While I would love to have Panarin back it's a long shot. Dzingel would be a good move for $4.75M and save the Hawks a ton of cap space. Nyquist also.</div></div>
Unless it’s already been said I don’t see a negative to bringing Kruger back, he’s not taking a roster space from anyone.
I wasn’t sure what to do with Perlini money so I through something out there. He played really well the last bit of the year. Probably right though.
I didn’t know it was guaranteed Boqvist was going back after he just missed the team this year.
Mistake on my end at Caggs being C. Gotta fix that.
I agree on Panarin. I just put him there because I wanted to.

That top six would be undeniably filthy. However you don’t need to pay that much. Trocheck OR Ekblad as a starting point. For Malkin. Then you have to shed cap somewhere else. Maybe not Maatta, and add in Matheson.
