I was going back and forth on how much Weal is worth. You think 2yr $2,000,000per range is more appropriate? Tough because he has been on fire to end the season, and just before he is scheduled to become a UFA. I don't think he gets paid like a top 6 scoring winger but I also think he makes more than 4th line $$ too. Idk, let's just hope Hextall doesn't let him get away.

2017-18 Flyers trades and young guns
I don't think SJS accepts that trade. Also don't like your special teams units, why is Weal on both PP1 and PP2? No Schenn?

Pay the piper
Why would we want to give a big contract to the top available UFA goalie? We only need a bridge starter to start in front of Stolarz, who will probably win the #1 job by next season's end anyways. We also have an extremely deep goalie prospect pool, so I don't see us giving more than 2 years to any available goalie, and definitely not at $6,000,000 per.
You also significantly underpaid Ghost. He will fetch north of $4,250,000 per season on a deal longer than 2 years.

The Glorious 2017-18 Philadelphia Flyers
I was just saying in his interview you could tell by Mason's body language he wasn't too enthusiastic about re-signing here. Like I said I hope he does, I'd want him as the bridge starter with Stolarz backing him up. Either way there is no chance the backup goalie next year is not one of our young prospects... more than likely Stolarz. I don't see the need to sign Pavelec and keep Neuvy in this scenario.

I think you overpaid Ghost, I think he is in more of the 4,500,000 - 4,800,000 AAV range. 97.5 The Fanatic host Jason Myrtetus was saying how he is hearing there is little chance Mason re-signs with Philly, and in his interview with Mason it was pretty obvious he had little interest in re-signing. I hope that isn't true, but even if it is I would rather have one of the prospects (Stolarz, Lyon) back up a bridge starter like Neuvy (or someone in FA) than pay for a veteran backup to a veteran bridge starter.

At least we know what Mason is, with our awesome goalie prospect depth there's no need to spend a ton of $$ on a 6 year deal for Bishop. Mason is a fine enough bridge starter for Stolarz to develop behind.</div></div>
Would you sign bishop 7 X 3 instead?</div></div>
I don't want Bishop at all, there is no need to go after the biggest name out there for pending UFA goalies. We only need a bridge starter for Stolie to develop behind, and eventually take over for. Most likely it will be either Neuvy or Mason, but even if they go in another direction it most certainly won't be anyone above their price/tier of goalies. Bishop is overrated, will be overpaid, and we don't need him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>phillyjabroni</b></div><div>You overpaid players like Weal, Cousins, and Ghost. If you give Ghost that AAV, it has to be for a longer term.</div></div>
Disagree. I think if PEB got 1,450,000 AAV then Cousins will get around that too, and Weal as an UFA that has really emerged this past month, will get just under 2,000,000 AAV. I think you are undervaluing Ghost, if they gave Gudas 3,350,000 AAV and Schenn 5,125,000 then Ghost (younger than both, way more potential) will get AT LEAST 4,500,000 AAV probably more.

Continue the Process
Sadly as much as I (and most Flyers fans) would like to see him gone, I could not find a feasible way to get rid of Andrew MacDonald. His contract was still too much to buy out, Vegas likely won't take him in the expansion draft, and it would be hard to trade him for a bag of pucks with his contract. I did include a Dale Weise buyout in this mock.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangles</b></div><div>why would we want Nilsson? You are also overpaying Ghost by 1-1.5 per</div></div>
I love Nilsson's game, I think he is a perfect (and affordable) bridge starter for Stolarz, plus he is only 26 years old too... who knows maybe he earns the #1 job. I think he would be cheaper than Neuvy and has a lot more upside too.
I'm still not positive on Ghost's exact range, but I figure it would be anywhere between 3.25-5 mil / year. My deal is going on the assumption he gets towards the upper limit of that range. Realistically he will most likely fall somewhere in the middle.

I do think we make a move for a scoring winger that the Flyers have desperately needed for years now. I think we trade Sam Morin instead of Ghost though in my opinion.</div></div>
if the flyers are going to get a top-6 scoring winger its going to cost Sanheim, Provorv, or Ghost - not Morin/Hagg like most fans post. I'm just being honest but no team is going to take on a guy with a #4-6 ceiling when they are moving a top-6 winger. They are going to want a top-2 ceiling and at worst a second pairing guy (Provorov, Myers, Sanheim, Ghost)</div></div>
Disagree. With the right draft compensation and adding in Carter Hart or a different goalie prospect, Sam Morin or Robert Hagg could fetch a top 6 winger. I'm not saying they pull a Pens and trade for Phil Kessel, but a solid 2nd line sniper can be had with a deal involving Hagg or Morin, a goalie prospect, and the right draft pick compensation.
