I dont think the habs are done just yet

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>futurehofer</b></div><div>We have Brock Faber coming. He should be able to slot right in and play a decent role right out the gate as soon as his college season is done, provided that Guerin doesn't make him spend much time in Iowa.
I'm honestly ok with letting Dumba just walk. We've passed the point of no return on him already. Guerin reportedly was trying to shop him around the league this summer and there was no interest from other teams in acquiring him (not the asking price for him, just him in general). His value is at just about an all time low. If we can get something for him between now and when he hits UFA, cool. If not, whatever, I'm honestly fine with it at this point.</div></div>
I'm glad some wild fans see some sense into this trade. I actually believe this woulf be beneficial for both teams. I think dumba and dvorak are two players at an all time low now: a change of scenery might do both some good. I do agree quality dman are more scarce if a sweetener is needed such as a 2nd or 3rd round pick, i believe it could definitely be done.

Ok i see; basically we are all saying the same thing while you considered some moves to be done before entering free agency and we simply went with whatever expected free cap space we would have before resigning anyone.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mglgoalie33</b></div><div>If you actually looked at it, and added the money from the long-term lookout page, you'd see just how wrong you are. All of the expiring Contracts at the NHL level add up to around $27M. Harris, Caufield, Allen, and Dumba would need to be re-signed in this scenario that would realistically leave $10M in space. If Price were on the team, like you suggest I thought, the team would be in debt.</div></div>
No, he's right. With drouin, monahan, dadonov, byron, dumba and allen traded or gone before july 1st; habs would have around 30mill in cap (with price on ltir) to do some moves in the next offseason.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ProudUncle</b></div><div>Nah, Minnesota isn't moving Rossi to winger. He's a C and we aren't wasting his roster place. Where you are wrong is Minnesota has Beckman and freddy G who they like alit. Christian Dvorak isn't a 1c. Ryan Hartman is better than Christian Dvorak, and kaprizov loves hum along with being cheaper. No matter what you think all dye respect, our gm isn't changing Rossi position or moving Hartman from 1c. So we will keep dumba, and you can keep Dvorak. Wild aren't getting worse on d. Having boldy to resign is why they aren't trading for Christian Dvorak. Even if dumba walks, Minnesota will have calen addison abd faber. Why the heck do you think Minnesota would make itself worse with those two free agent whose no longer good? Christian Dvorak doesn't get you dumba either</div></div>
Hartman needs to have atleast another good season like last year's to be considered a better hockey player than christian dvorak. Like I said, I might be more cautious, but for a team trying to contend with cap issues, you're relying on too much "maybe" for that second line. I'd be surprised if any of the guys you mentioned actually crack 40pts +. I personally dont want dumba; but that trade makes a lot more sense to your team than you're making it out to be. Next year, you're probably losing Dumba to free agency without a replacement and with a pretty thin centre line.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ProudUncle</b></div><div>With all due respect, only habs fans think this..we don't need Christian Dvorak. We have no room, cap, need for him. MIN will keep dumba.. Sorry, you aren't getting dumba..Rossi's has 2c, Eriksson ek has 3c. Minnesota Declines. Dumba has way more value than Christian Dvorak.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>As a disinterested observer, I don't think that this works for Minnesota. The fact that the Wild may or may not be able to re-sign Dumba next summer is outweighed by the fact that they have no one to replace him internally for THIS season. Hunt, Lambos and O'Rourke are too young (as well as being lefties), while Johansson has never played a professional hockey game in North America and Addison doesn't seem to be the answer. Finally, a #2RD has more value than a #3C, which is what Dvorak is and would be on Minnesota.</div></div>
I might be more cautious than you guys, but I dont think Rossi will slot in at 2C next year; I'm glad he recovered well this year after being hit hard from covid but in my opinion, he's not put in a position to succeed having only boldy (who needs to be resigned next year as well) as offensively skilled player on his side (considering top line is unchanged). I also dont consideer hartman as a top line center, i see him as a third line center at best, this season is definitely an outlier; having kaprizov and developping chemistry with him improved his stock but in the end, i believe the wild would be better off with Hartman-Dvorak-Eriksson Ek while rossi could begin as the second line rw. That freed up cap could be used to replace dumba with subban or stralman (while its definetely a downgrade defensively, i genuinely think the wild gets better overall and gives them some leeway for the next 2 years until parise and suter's cap hits drop)

Habs prediction for 2022-2023 season
What do you guys think if the trade was simply their 2023-2nd + mavrick bourque for petry + habs 3rd (so basically removing their 1st round pick from the trade) seems more plausible and actually interesting for both teams no?
