Not really Mercer's fault. Team saw a massive dip in production considering Lindy Ruff drove the team into the ground.

For instance, I don't think Coronato amounts to much more than a 40 point winger. So therefore, that's what his trade value is. Do you think that's fair?</div></div>
We're literally discussing two players from the same draft class. And despite what you continuously refuse to believe, people are going to look at what each have produced thus far to gauge their value. Can Rossi be more than a 40 point player? Yes. But what ISN'T he right now? More than a 40 point player. You know who's produced multiple 20 goal season though? The player from the same draft class who's further along in his development.
If YOU want to view it otherwise. That's on you. Doesn't make it objectively true.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caerii</b></div><div>Are you really dumbfounded right now about what else could possibly go into valuing two 22 year olds outside of what they've been able to do in the NHL so far?
Two questions:
1) Do you think 22 year olds are done developing as hockey players?
2) Do you think development of every player is linear, taking place at the same rate?</div></div>
Considering anyone outside of the Wild fanbase won't advocate that Rossi will produce much higher than he's begun to, yeah. I don't really see him being better than Mercer.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caerii</b></div><div>Bonus third question:

I understand your star studded pick from 2020 finally scored 40 points, but him and Mercer are literally from the same draft class, and Mercer has shown (literally by scoring multiple 20 goal seasons and one 17 goal season) that he's much further along his development than Rossi. Nothing against Rossi, but Mercer is just better.
You likely wouldn't be saying anything if you weren't a Wild fan because nobody outside of the Wild fanbase (all 3 of them) value him that high

I can keep going. Good defensive forwards, and some of the best in the league, kill penalties.
KK isn’t on the PK because he’s only had one good defensive year only playing against teams bottom 6 players. He’s not good against top comp like the players I listed above.

I also do not think that the Canes can afford him around that cap because they'll need to sign the other forwards listed and they'll also need to find and sign replacements for Pesce and/or Skjei. Signing Jarvis(which is a necessity) will also cost lots in cap space. If they resign Necas they will not have the cap space to fill the NEEDS and come out as a worse team.</div></div>
Noesen is gone. Martinook is 50/50. Bridge Jarvis, and Guentzel might take a slight pay cut. Teuvo had a down year and if we don't keep him then one of our prospects will eventually replace him.
We are fine. Even if we were going to trade Necas, it will not be for futures. We are a contending team, not a rebuilding one.
In your trade, you're also giving us back 5.3m in cap that we can just.. you know.. put towards Necas? Lol.

What I've been watching these past 8 games is a bottom 6 forward who makes too much money skate around the ice all 10 minutes he plays a game and contributes nothing.
Even when he's given top 6 minutes he does nothing with them. Good grief. Get over yourself. This constant denial and pro-KK narrative has got to be exhausting,

Somewhat Realistic Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nolan_Gooch</b></div><div>Necas might price himself out of what the Canes can pay. Practically their entire D-Core needs to be resigned which will cost a pretty penny. So does Teräväinen, Jarvis, Drury, Martinook, Guentzel and Noesen. Necas is easily worth over 6 mil which the Canes realistically may not be able to pay. If the right offer comes up and a large enough price is paid(like the the proposal I made) I can guarantee he will be traded.</div></div>
Necas had a down year, which helps the re-signing. He's an RFA so he has no rights. We own his rights. We can afford him at around 6m per and we can just bridge Jarvis.
Pesce and Skjei probably wont sign either,

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>dude, you are the one who said he was an elite defensive player. Saying, oh but the canes have the #1 pk anyway, doesn't mean it's true.
If he was an elite defensive player, he'd be playing. It's also like saying, the Ozone starts aren't for him... dude, that is so pointless on every level. It's not changing the fact that he did nothing with them.
And for an Elite defensive player it wasn't more balanced in the defensive direction.
Look don't get me wrong, you are more than welcome to keep that almost 5 mil contract for 6 years on a guy who puts up roughly 20 points a year all you want. But don't come telling me a hockey trade to move him out for shorter term isn't in CAR interest it is.
He is not worth that cap hit. It was an over pay the day it was signed. The 5v5 production just isn't there and it never has been and when the PP time is gone, it really shows.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>What are you talking about? He doesn't play PK because the Canes had the #1 PK in the league anyway. Why try to fix something that isn't broken? Have an elite PK and want to change it? Jesus stop it.
His OZone start rate wasn't for him, for the most part. It was because he started with Svechnikov and Necas a ton. This is the issue with OZone start times, Carolin start 65% of play tie in the offensive zone, but that conveniently gets left out. There's no reason to move him. He's going to bounce back and anyone that has watched him can see it. a 3.1 xGF/60 is a sign of strong offensive development. He's not a problem contract, and I don't need some Penguins fan that has seen him play maybe what 10 games all season try to argue this because you're just wrong.</div></div>
I honestly don’t know how anyone can remotely defend KK after watching him play this season + how bad he’s been in the playoffs.
Unfortunately, Caniac is way too prideful to admit that targeting KK was a petty mistake that never should have happened. Now, we’re stuck with a sub 5m bottom 6 forward who can’t get it going no matter where he plays in the lineup. And If KK was on ANY other team, Caniac wouldn’t even give him a second glance.
No, he’s not some “star studded” breakout candidate. He’s a bust. He absolutely sucks defensively, and the only reason he was remotely good defensively last season is because his QoC was near non existent, facing off against mainly teams bottom 6 lines. Which made him look a whole lot better than he was.
The only time he’s ever good offensively is when he’s propped up by his linemates and he absolutely sucks at driving the play himself. He was great in like the first 16 games because Svech made him look really good.
Rod might have his mishaps a the coach, but he’s not at all misusing KK. He has every right not to trust him because, shocker, he sucks. The Hab’s knew what they were doing when they let him go. Smartest thing they could have done.
The greatest thing about this recurring Caniac bit is the constant cherry picking of useless analytics that prove nothing. If you spray paint sh*t in gold, it’s still sh*t. “but his xG/60!”… but what about all 20 points he had this season? Good players produce. You don’t cherry pick analytics to aid the argument for good players because they are producing anyway. KK isn’t good.
Give it a rest man.
