Vegas has Limited Options
They can trade one or more of Adin Hill, Brayden McNabb, Shea Theodore, Zach Whitecloud, or even a forward like Nick Roy to gain cap space. Thompson looks like the may be ready to take the starter role here, and Korczak may be ready for the bottom pairing too. There are teams that would take those players.

Money, positional value, age, contract status, character, team leverage etc all factor into value. It’s not all point production.
McTavish will be looked at more favorably in every one of those categories aside from points, and while he probably isn’t a regular 90+pt player, he likely is a 70-90pt player with good linemates (like Mitch has been playing with).
There is quite literally a 0% chance ANA would even think about moving him for Marner

This is what this website should be. I laughed at every one of the descriptions because they're funny, on point, and well written. This is a fantasy site, do we really need realism when we can have this? No. This is fun as hell OP, thank you.

Chicago would be receiving a pick for freeing up 5 million. We can spend that cap way better in free agency otherwise.

I dont think the value is bad, although the Robertson deal is a little rich for me.
Reilly contract is too long as well, thats the type of deal we just got off our books im not sure we would want to add another.

Schmaltz looked pretty good making plays with Keller and is a right handed face off guy. Yes, I agree trading Lilly and Nicky Bobby does make sense.

Knies is huge and tough and can drive to the net and create havoc for opposing D...he may never get 30 goals but I see a future playoff guy, if he wasn't already this year</div></div>
Hes gonna be a 30 goal 65 point power forward winger who is clutch in the playoffs

If you think McCann has more value than Marner, I don't know what to tell you.
Clearly Larsson is worth more than Lily though.
Maybe remove the 2nd? or turn McCann into Bjorkstrand.

Just a note: Notice I didnt say Guentzal was great I said he was a hockey player yada yada yada</div></div>
I don't think Washington is a good trade partner for Marner as I think the Leaf's would ideally want someone who could step into the lineup in addition to the prospects/Picks or a Defenseman or Goaltender similar in value to MM. If thy were to trade with the CAPs the 2 trades below would be in the ball park value wise I would say
For Marner, Liljegren and Villeneuve
Leonard, Chesley and 2 x 1st
or
Strome, Chesley and a 1st

Tavares and Marner Blockbusters
As mentioned above the Leafs have no interest in three years of Ek. By trading Tavares, Kampf, and Holmberg, you've really made the centre position much worse.
Gotta think that's poor return for Minni.

2027 1st is a wildcard. I'd rather it just be this year's 1st at 17OA. Caps could be a lottery team or a contender in 2027 - complete coin flip.

I think it's a lot for Washington to give up. Leafs will love the additional cap space. Don't think the Leafs should be trading Liljegren when Timmins is the only NHL Dman under contract.
PS. Don't think Marner cares at all about Ovi and his goal scoring record journey.

Honestly though If I am the Leafs I would rather not take Gustavson and just get more picks or was that a cap dump?</div></div>
See I would, we need a goalie this offseason and a tandem of Woll and Gust would be better than any of the UFA goalies we could get.

No Trades For Marner Are Good So Dont Do It

They will get something back but in fact just the cap space is worth trading him.
I dont get all this talk, if I am Marner's agent I am saying dude this is gonna lose us money, we gotta get out and go some place and kick ass, get them into the playoffs.
Prediction: Marner will be the next Kadri/Hyman/Joshua/etc etc etc that goes elsewhere and does just fine in the playoffs.
Ok rant over...</div></div>
Oh I completely agree with this. Marner will go elsewhere and perform and stick it to us but that’s fine, can’t keep him cause we’re afraid he will be good for someone else.
Can’t imagine what the media will be like all year if he refuses to waive. Won’t be good for him.
Only way he stays is management doesn’t want to move him, in which case they should all be fired.

I don't see the Bruins going after Domi, maybe Bertuzzi again depending on his price cause i'm pretty sure they tried to sign him long term last summer but he decided to test the market.
