I’d rather him come into camp having to earn and fight for a spot, as opposed to being gifted a shoe in spot. Like the idea of him fighting for a spot the whole year while playing 60-65 games

It's still a lot to pay for Hague and put him on 3rd line.</div></div>
Hague would more realistically be on the 2nd pairing and Power on the third for the year, I don’t imagine us being sellers outside of Olofsson, I see it as just hold onto him and trade for more value opposed to trading him now for a pick and less value

Don't like Subban signing.
Vegas deal is bad for Sabres. They have plenty of LD, and Hague is main point of this deal.</div></div>
He has more value on a 1 year 2.5 million contract at the deadline than now as an RFA, it's a sign and trade at the deadline. Subban had a bounce back season and is a former norris winner on a 1 year deal when you need to fill up cap. The "log jam" on LD is way overstated if Dahlin/Samuelsson are a pairing, and Johnson is most likely not going to sign here so the depth behind Dahlin, Power right now is really just Bryson who is serviceable at best at this moment. Hague is a great young defenseman, and the only reason this deal would be done is because Vegas cannot sign Hague.

Not to mention dumb contracts.</div></div>
Peterka will play damn near a full season in this scenario, he might miss a few but have him start in the AHL, and first injury he comes in, might even start right away due to injuries in training camp.

Don’t understand your logic, 4 first round picks is WAY too much, but 1 first, a player who would probably get traded for a first (Olofsson), a young center who is probably worth a first (Mittelstadt), and one of the best goalie prospects with a 2nd is laughable? gotta pick one

Before this year I'd complete agree, but he actually he had a super nice bounce back year defensively and had a pretty positive defensive impact for the devils.

At the beginning of the season, many Sabre ACGM's were touting Olofsson would return a first and second.
while he suffered through a 30 game scoring drought, he has 11 goals since March 2nd, 19 games.
If Hagel (who does not have a resume nearly as good as Olofsson) can return two first round picks and two NHL players, IMO that is Olofsson's value as well.
So Severson is worth three firsts and a second?</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres89</b></div><div>That's awful. He has no term, and you are giving up olofsson, who is criminally underrated, a late first, a an early second next year. I get that you pay a premium for right d, but that's crazy town. At that price, I would pass and kick the tires on a guy like petry, who I don't actually want.</div></div>
Olofsson is not worth anywhere near two firsts, the reason that Hagel got that much was because of his contract. Olofsson is going to be an RFA, and RFA's have very little value. Buchnevich is an example of a player similar to Olofsson, although Buch is much better and similarly aged, only got a 2nd as a RFA. Part of the Severson deal (I'd assume) would be a trade and sign to an extension. Severson is worth damn near 2 firsts, great player on a terrible defense with very nice advanced stats, plus the premium for being a right handed defenseman.

He'd be third line just because this is a ridcioulsly stacked AHL team, he's played super well in the last 3 games and feel like he'll get his call up eventually

Value is pretty good for an Eichel deal if it wasn't Toronto, ik it's just a hypothetical but if a team in the division made a play for him they'd have to pay up so much more than say a Vegas. Especially Toronto or like Boston, because the fans would had Adams for it

Yes, they should definitely move other people before him, and they would be able to get Eichel without moving him. But in the grand scheme of things, while the trade will probably end up being better on Calgary's side, you still win this trade because you get Eichel.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BigDog91</b></div><div>I agree. But being huge sabres fan and following the draft. I think every sabre fan wanted sabres to draft Caufield instead of mittelstadt. Back then what sabres need the most was pure goal scorer. Then in 2020 draft, Every one wanted sabres to draft a center either perfetti or rossi and I still i think that would be a better option.
Obviously Quinn could turn into caufield but even better defensively and I think Mittlestadt has improved alot and I think locked in top 6 role this year. Ryan johnson will be stud but I think he will be flipped because sabres are so deep on left side.</div></div>
If you were "following the draft", you'd at least know Mittelstadt and Caufield were not in the same draft
