I know this upsets Avs fans, but Landeskog has to prove himself to be player he was thought to be when he was high draft pick.
Just like Duchene. I saw how Avs fans were howling at the Bozak/Duchene trade. Yea Bozak who had the same number of goals as Duchene last year and 55 points to 41 points. And the extra prospects weren't enough for Avs fans.
If Sakic listens to how much Avs fans value their losing top players, Duchene, Landeskog are never going to be traded.</div></div>
This is all true, but you didn't even rate me or comment on what I gave. GJ just stirring the pot more.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>orignalsix</b></div><div>Why would Vegas want Subban, an average AHL goalie when so many good goalies are available. And why would this wait money on Hayes.</div></div>
I think they could take Subban. He's been solid in the AHL, just not as good as McIntyre. Subban is stronger and more athletic, but he hasn't found his game. However I don't see how they draft Hayes in order to take Subban, They just take Subban and say Eff You to Jimmy. No-one wants Hayes at this point.

Yes, Roy quit, because Sakic was crazy and wanted to have total control. Roy was good enough to have some say. What has Sakic done really other than give RoR away? Sakic is a derphead who's gonna be fired in 2 years if he doesn't sell some players.</div></div>
Well Sakic is the GM and President of Hockey Ops...so I would assume he would want control. Yes Sakic did trade ROR, but he didnt create that mess, that was more on ROR trying to force his way out of the team bc he was upset he wasnt made captain when they made Landeskog Captain in 2011. Long documented history of that so you can look that up if you want.
Sakic has had lots of ups and downs but he isnt a derphead as you say. You are just being upset for no reason over a GM that you are not a fan of. Dont get mad online</div></div>
I'm not mad. He's just a derphead because he thinks he's going to rip someone off with his players, but he's going to get ripped off like he did with RoR. Just wait man, he's not getting a future top pair D, Current top 6 F and 1st rounder. Whatever he gets, which won't be what he's asking for, he'll turn it into a bag of pucks like he did with Grigorneko and Zadorov. Guy's got the worst roster in hockey after making the playoffs in 2014 and basically not losing anyone of value but RoR. I mean "stop the presses, Alex Tanguay is gone!" The whole team crumbles from Alex leaving lol. Sakic is out of a job in 2 years. I promise you he's not going to make it.

I'd rather gamble on getting that return, than gamble on Edler being the missing piece for a Cup. I gave you a 3.</div></div>
Grzelcyk and Krug are small and offensive defenseman. That's where the comparable end. If you think Gryz is going to become a Krug, you're going to be disappointed. They're different players.</div></div>
Grizzly is as clutch as Krug and better defensively. I didn't say they were mirror images, I said "like Krug" which he is. Name 5 players more comparable to Krug than Grizzy who are the same size, skill set and Left handed. You simply can't which is why it's a legit starting point. No-one in the NHL is the exact same as someone else. Not even McQuaid and K. Miller. I thought you would have had that figured out by now.

Brekel's Mock Draft 2.0
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BreKel</b></div><div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GuyWithATry</b></div><div>
Yeah, sorry I missed your post. I think Virtanen's value is basically a 3rd round pick at this point and you said that we could get more than that for Spooner in my mock. Virtanen has done nothing so far and it's hard to imagine him being better than our prospects like Heinen or Cehlarik, who were actually good in the AHL when next season starts. If we do trade for him he's going to have to have a monster training camp to make the NHL roster in a top 6 role. This mock isn't impossible, but it is improbable.
Edit: I just wanted to add that I do like your Hayes trade, if we get anything of value for him at this point I'd consider it a win.</div></div>
Well, like I said above a few times, just because he starts there, doesn't mean he finishes there. Virtanen plays a pro game. He's just not having success. He's played 65 NHL games at around 10-11 minutes of average TOI. This was also his first AHL season. He's a risk.....But his underlying NHL stats aren't bad at all. Vancouver is a dumpster fire.....A change of scenery and a system that would fit him a bit better could potentially do wonders. Worst case, you get a player who fits a bottom 6 role more than Spooner does.</div></div>
What I'm saying is that he's done nothing to make the big team. Man you must be like totally stoked on Heinen, who actually put up numbers in the AHL at around the same age under the same circumstances. Personally I don't see any way Virtanen beats out Heinen in camp, so just having him on the roster, when our prospects who were in their first AHL year borderline dominated, is weak. He gets the nod because he's new? He certainly hasn't proven he's any better than Cehlarik, Heinen, DeBrusk.... as they were great in the AHL in their first year. I just don't see how he leapfrogs everyone in our pipeline when he's literally done nothing but decline in value since he was drafted.

Ugh? He didnt fire Roy. Roy quit bc he wasnt getting his way anymore in terms of building the Roster. Roy wanted to spend in UFA and bring in more Vets, make trades to win now. Sakic didnt want to and wanted to try to add to to the young core.

Too much going on in this. Why would Minny retain that much and pay K Miller full and Spooners gonna make 2M, they have cap problems man, no way they do that. Maybe they trade Pominville no retain for K Miller no retain to shed cap, but retaining and adding a higher priced RFA to them is like kicking them in the junk. Pretty sure they have to make a big decision on a young F even without the extra cap. Maybe they lose 2 F's from this deal. I'm pretty buzzed so I'm going to give you a 3.

I actually didn't see the 8; I passed over it assuming it was a 6-year contract, as seems to be the standard for guys like Pasta. Still, if they give him that contract, the cap headaches will get even worse as we struggle to find competent defensemen.</div></div>
Right, but my point is that if you want him for 8 years you have to pay extra for those UFA years. That's why his cap is higher than you'd like. It makes sense to me. Our Cap problems are gone in 4 years dropping 13 mil from Backes and Krejci. As long as we sign McAvoy and Carlo to bridge deals, we'll never be stuck with a headache situation. The contracts stagger so we'll be fine. Believe in Sweeny, he's done some dumb stuff, but he's done them in a genius way, for a genius reason.

This is okay, but I doubt we let Morrow walk for nothing. He was good in the playoffs. Also K. Miller mans the right side and C Miller is on the left. Kevan started left, but the coaches were just letting Collin get acclimated to the NHL before they put him on the side he'd play at if he was paired with Kevan long term. I'd rather have a pair of Carlo / Krug and Chara / McAvoy so we get a mix of offensive and defensive skills. All in all good job, I gave you a 4.

I very generously gave you a 3 star rating. #1 problem is that Vancouver already has 3 C's in Sedin, Horvat and Sutter, so Spooner doesn't meet their needs at all. #2 you traded for a guy who's not only had zero NHL success, but also zero AHL success and you put him on your first line. That's basically obviously insane and a lack of pure logic. Even if you're trying to balance the lines, this guy won't keep up and will be back in the AHL before you know it. This would be better if you just added a mid priced UFA to play on the first line. Maybe Justin Williams for like 3Mil x2years? I don't know.... just a suggestion, I don't wanna take over your mock.... just think theres gotta be a better option than Virtanen on line 1. Lets see him prove himself at the AHL level before we go to crazy with him.

Trade for Hanifin
I gave you a 4. I think I'd like it better if you gave McQuaid to Carolina and gave Vegas Subban. I'd like to keep Vatrano too unless he does a poor job at the World Championship. Last year on another website, I basically trolled everyone saying there's no way we should buyout Seidenberg until after the world cup, we need to let him prove his dip in play was injury related. We went ahead and did it before and I think I was right about what I said because he played better than Liles this year IMO. Lets give Vatrano a chance at the WC and see if he builds some confidence. With pulling Vatrano out of the deal and adding McQuaid instead, I think you'd need to add a little bit more. Maybe like a 3rd rounder or as high as a 2nd. That's a ton to give up for Hannifin, but they aren't going to give him away for cheap.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BreKel</b></div><div>Or just bury Hayes in Providence and get better value for a 40-50 point centerman. Hayes' contract is not bad where you need to use a pick/prospect/etc. to get him off. Better options available.</div></div>
I think a 2nd round pick is due for Spooner, so his value dips 1 round when packaged with Hayes. Spooner could get offer sheeted to a deal around 2M. The price for not matching would likely be a 2nd rounder. If you'd rather have Jimmy Hayes in Providence around a lot of guys like Bjork, Heinen, Zboril, Lauzon, DeBrusk ect... then I guess you'd keep him. I don't really agree with having him at any level as any part of the team. He's been awful for us both years he's been here, doesn't skate hard and doesn't finish his checks even though he has an enormous body. I don't really want to introduce a vet who plays like that to our prospects. It's counterproductive and I'll surely be okay with drafting 1 round later for the ability to ensure he doesn't corrupt all the new prospects coming in next season. It's about the entire picture and what his level of competence is. If Sweeny and Jimmy Hayes were Gladiators and Sweeny had Hayes dominated, I would definitely give Hayes the thumbs down. He's done enough for us to move on from him.
