Oilers get two rumoured players
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SMH</b></div><div>It's not, ryan McLeod is a good player but isn't what the habs need, we don't need more middle 6 player's</div></div>
I disagree. There is a difference between having bottom 6 forwards and having the right ones. we have a lot of young talent that hasn't earned top 6 minutes so they get played in bottom 6 roles in hopes of developing into a top 6 roles. We need forwards that play in appropriate roles for their game. Don't get me wrong getting a first would be great, it has great value, but picks between 20-32 like this one are hit and miss and take a long time, so hughes would be packaging it up for a roster player anyways. He also doesn't seem like the type to be so rigid in the construct of the trade. Accept.

Matheson is not a rental though. What is Philly going to draft this year toward the end of the round that they haven't already in either Cutter Gautheir of Michkov. Matheson can provide a solid PP point option for the next 6 years.

No But we have 3 Ld soon to be 4 with hutson once the college year is over, that we should be playing 18-19 mins a night. Guhle, Xhekaj, Stuble, and Hutson. Savard, Barron/Mailloux, Harris/Kovy. I like Matheson but by the time he is going to be useful for a playoff run we'll need to resign him and he will be asking for closer to 6 mill I;m sure.

In a world where Buffalo misses the playoffs again Hard to say many players are untouchable other than thompson.

Ya I think squires 3rd would do it. I don't know if they would retain salary in the trade though, at most I think $1 million in retention is all I would do at that number.

Ya I definitely tossed that Idea around in my head. I like it but I dont know where the rangers and their fans are with him. I like your offer, honestly might be giving up too much cause I don't think ylonen has gotten a proper shot yet. But I do know they values Kaapo's two-way game a lot, so I think its probably pretty fair.

One I am a habs fan. Two I would agree that they are looking for that kind of value, but I disagree that they would value getting a 1st over getting a prospect that may have a chance of playing in the NHL sooner. I'll say getting a first would still be nice cause I could see them packaging up the pick at the draft for a roster player. I just don't think Kent is the type of manager to be so rigid to say "I want a first and 3rd and nothing else.
What about a Condition edit where if the rangers make the eastern conference finals and Monahan dresses 50% of the games the 2nd becomes a 1st.

Allen being a stop gap is worth more in the next 2 years to Hughes. If this was the return price then I think the deal would have been done already!</div></div>
Yeah and considering that the rangers will be picking at the end of the round that 3rd is essientially a 4th. they may consider a 3rd at the start of the round.

Although it may be a high price for allen. Montreal also does not do this trade. The only position we may refuse to take is left shot d-men we are trying to get rid of some already. they are looking for forward prospects. we don't need more picks, but i suppose could flip it for something else.

Habs can't retain on both they only have 1 retention spot left for this season. don't think they will have much interest in Kirill either there is a back log on the left side of the defense in montreal. I'm sure they have interest in buying low on kuzmenko, and I think there could be truth to the rumours Vancouver scout was at the montreal/florida game the other night.

Center targets if Chytil done for year
From a Montreal prospective I think they would value a prospect over a pick. BRENNAN OTHMANN might be the first guy I ask for Might require adding a young depth defenceman which we do have. I understand if I am asking for too much but this is mostly just the perspective of wanting prospects to be the focal point of the trade and not picks they have enough picks and want to accelerate their rebuild if possible.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Terrifiedofeveryone</b></div><div>Winnipeg isn’t really pressed for cap so I’m not sure they’d want to add value to Schmidt just to offload him. If as you say Monahan and Savard are fits for their bottom-6/third-pairing, I doubt they’d want to give up a quality prospect like Lucius. The Jets are more likely to package Barron, a pick, and a prospect for a 2c upgrade and then pay a mid-round pick for a 6/7D upgrade.</div></div>
Fair response. I think both Monahan and savard are 3rd line pairings on great (stanley cup contending teams) On bad teams ( like the habs now) 2nd line. In order to get a 2nd C upgrade better than Monahan that pick in a Barron trade will have to be a 1st and the prospect would probably be a former 2nd rounder not much worse than Lucius, like NIKITA CHIBRIKOV.

I think, you nailed the price they are looking for. I could see Kent hughes looking for a former first rounder instead of the 1st round pick this year. Although I could see them flipping the first rounder at the draft for someone that is 20 and maybe a little closer to the pro level. I don't think they are taking much less than this. Savard is worth it if for the leafs. He is the kind of player whose value increases in the playoffs with more reluctance to call penalties. Not to mention he'll be your best penalty killer.

Answer me something if erik Karlsson is a free agent and you can have him on your team but you have to pay him 11.5 million for the next 4 years, are you going to do it. honestly, I'm not. so I am offering sanjose out of that contract two years early, in order to swap 1st round first round picks take the guy I want (Smith), allow you to still select the player you want (Michkov), I'm giving you back a veteran right shot defenseman to fill the void of what is obviously going to be a rebuilding two years. You can take my two quality roster players and a first rounder. But ya I'd rather have Karlsson decrease his value over the next two years and get nothing for his crappy contract in two years. You will never get real value for Karlsson and you are currently as close as you can get. but to pay a defenseman 11.5 mill if you can say you can get a first rounder even if it is florida's I take that as a win.

he got a concussion in the preseason last year, that was his first real season so i'm not ready to say it's his development even though we definitely have had development issues in the recent past. McDavid: 1.52
Yamamoto: 0.96
Nugent-Hopkins: 0.94
Kassian: 0.58

Lehkonen: 0.39
Byron: 0.34
Weal at 0.31 would slot behind Edmonton's Chiasson, Archibald and Puljujarvi. That puts him outside the top-12 in Edmonton. At $1.4M you'd have to pay Edmonton to take him - you aren't getting one of their promising prospects in return.</div></div>
sorry I went so aggressive on the return there boys and your right I haven't watched edmontons moves I thought from a brief look there was a spot for improvement on the 4th apparently not, thats fair. was just looking to dump weal somewhere, I am fine with with sending him to the minors too. this was mostly supposed to be lineup based

Honestly that's a more fair response, I get not wanting weal and that I under valued lavoie. he slipped to the second round and I haven't watched his development closely enough. the trade wasn't meant to be a slap in the face I was just looking for a team that could improve their fourth line with weal and release someone else. I don't doubt weal is a fourth liner the key piece going edmontons way is the second round pick that they can flip later. I also mention in the description that I understand if edmonon declines and I would look at other prospects on their team. the point of the trade is that montreal has an extra 4th liner, we don't want any more forwards, and we would more readily move mete or kulak before trading romanov.
