Undervalueing Karlsson (a lot), undervalueing Harris / over-rating Mantha, I don't think Edmundson holds that value right now.

SJ says no and it makes no sense for MTL to take karlsson. Why are we giving Harris in the WSH trade.

Answer me something if erik Karlsson is a free agent and you can have him on your team but you have to pay him 11.5 million for the next 4 years, are you going to do it. honestly, I'm not. so I am offering sanjose out of that contract two years early, in order to swap 1st round first round picks take the guy I want (Smith), allow you to still select the player you want (Michkov), I'm giving you back a veteran right shot defenseman to fill the void of what is obviously going to be a rebuilding two years. You can take my two quality roster players and a first rounder. But ya I'd rather have Karlsson decrease his value over the next two years and get nothing for his crappy contract in two years. You will never get real value for Karlsson and you are currently as close as you can get. but to pay a defenseman 11.5 mill if you can say you can get a first rounder even if it is florida's I take that as a win.

Yes we get 2 years of cap savings, but it’s not worth it.

At this point the sharks probably want the Florida pick and your 1st to move up to 4th OA. But that’s a bit much. To be fair. If sharks move back look for them to move it to ARZ for the 6th and 12th.

And Karlsson coming off 101 point season as a D man means his value has never been higher and I would rather retain 2-3 mil maybe more for a max return rather than 3 players who do nothing for our team now or in the future.
