Jordan Weal struggled to keep that 4th line role last season don't think he is getting a promotion. that's kk spot, also kinda think jake evans steals the 4th line c spot this season he's a more intelligent hockey player than weal.

Giving up too much in the anaheim trade. Toronto won't take weise back in a trade too much cap. and there are way better ways for ottawa to get to the floor than to trade for 3 guys that will struggle to make an NHL roster. edmonton one is kind of even but not a huge fan of RNH

Is he ready? Likely not, but maybe.
Should he play? No. Send him to Europe, don't expose him to this crap.
Maybe he does well, but your chances of ruining him go way, way up. Do what the leafs did, Keep the prospects down, tank a few years, get good prospects, bring them all up and shock the league.</div></div>
Ya that's fair but I'm giving him 9 games with this line combo if he impresses I think about it the thing that makes me consider keeping him is that his strength is his biggest weakness I think he has the best chance of getting stronger playing in the nhl as long as they don't think he'll get hurt

Eating Kotkaniemi pie
I agree with you about benn and alzner not being bright spots for the future, and I see them being moved, but I don't see alzner being traded this year. Next year but Ideally two years from now, right now his contract isn't great and I'm sure management regrets that move, but we can afford to eat a year or two of his contract and two years from now 4.625 mil won't be that high for a veteran 5-6 defenceman that kills penalties with a rising cap. Don't get me wrong I don't think we get much two years either but I think you'll get more as there will be more suitors for his services. also I agree with EthanK24 regarding Chaput and the other two. I think he is my first call up though if someone goes down with injury he has played very well.

Unrealistic honestly teams don't just sign two players to 6+ mill through free agency. it's actually unlikely both make it to free agency. If duchene happens to go to free agency which i think is more likely than schmidt sure take run I guess honestly idk if I want duchene as my number one centre. don't get me wrong he's talented and has proven he's a first line centre. but you want to give 8 mill over 7 years to a guy that has only been on bad teams since he started his career. I'd rather be patient and build. I know the finnish kid is enticing with kotkaniemi but you should check out Philip Broberg.

simple paul byron is 29. I agree he can put up 20 goals, he's done it with very little help. He'll likely do it for 2-3 more years on a bargain of a contract that makes him super valuable for contenders, on a rebuild/retool, he is exactly what you said a leader for the young wingers. we still have great leaders on the team so I think contenders would value him more than a rebuilder like us.

I agree but I wouldn't bank on steen having many years left if any in a top 6 role on a cup contender, and although fabbri is quite young pacioretty is more immediate production in all likelihood. but I understand getting both fabbri and kyrou would be asking a lot of a STL GM

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EthanK24</b></div><div>In my opinion :
Pacioretty = Miller (most likely Pacioretty>Miller, but since Pacioretty is going to UFA, we'll give Miller the benefit of the doubt)
Shaw > 2nd (Slightly)
Byron > 2nd (Slightly also)
Lindgren = Cirelli
and then MTL just takes Ryan for free.
No thanks.</div></div>
you pay a price based on need. in terms of immediate upside sure pacioretty over miller but miller is 6 years younger, plays centre, signed for less than what pacioretty will make and for longer, not too mention patches value is at an all time low. I agree with byrons value but not the other two. You dont get a second for shaw given his contract he's overpaid by about 2 mill given his injuries and shouldn't play a top six role so he's taking a spot of a younger guy. Lindgren is close to cirelli but position need at centre is more crucial. goalie prospects are looking pretty good for us in two years with Mcniven and cayden primeau. I don't see a team giving up a first for lindgren, but could see that being the case for cirelli (late round 15-30).

fair enough I try too hard not to be bias sometimes, what if cirelli stays in montreal?
Tampa gets:
Karlsson
Pacioretty
Byron
For:
Miller, J
Foote, C
Cirelli, A
Callahan, R
2020 1st round pick (TBL)
2020 2nd round pick (TBL)
MTL gets:
Miller, J
Ryan, B ($2,000,000 retained)
Cirelli, A
2020 2nd round pick (TBL)
2019 2nd round pick (OTT)
For:
Pacioretty
Byron
Shaw
Lindgren
OTT Gets:
Foote, C
Callahan, R
2020 1st round pick (TBL)
Shaw, A
Lindgren, C
For:
Ryan, B ($2,000,000 retained)
Karlsson, E

I think maybe taking out the 2nd ottawa sends to mtl makes it closer

Ya that's fair. I see the players making sense. maybe make picks conditional second rounders if pacioretty doesn't extend they become 3rd rounders

I actually like this. Although if there is no extension on pacioretty it's risky. I say risky because I think playing with McJesus for one year could convince pacioretty to resign. Honestly he might score 50 with mcdavid as his centre.

Undersold on Byron. Atleast start with a 2nd round pick and add something small
0 chance we would get Myers for Jordie Benn</div></div>
Fair enough originally had byron in the florida trade. Mcginn is still a bit of a salary dump. as it will give room to sign pacioretty, so I thought the addition of byron would be too much.
But maybe,
Pacioretty
Byron
Bjugstad
Mcginn
1st
3rd
The philly trade I'm looking at the fact that philly would likely take Benn over gudas because of the 2 million difference and one year less in salary in order to help resign simmonds, but I get that I might need to give up a 3rd instead of a 4th or something.

I know that, you can't do three way trades in this so you have to do a bunch of different trades we aren't giving up enough to even come close to acquiring karlsson, this is a karlsson trade to dallas where we also incorporate a pacioretty trade to dallas.
