I think that it depends how they deploy Tarasenko and Giroux. Cause to get the most out of Tarasenko you might wanna play him with those two, then have Giroux work his magic with Norris and the 2LW.

You sure about that, if you watched Stutzle you'd also know he has a realistic chance at 60 goals because of his elite wrister and elite hands along with the linemates that he had last year. He also had 1 less goal that Matthews last year. Granted that was in 4 more games, but the gap is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo much smaller than you realize.

This is going to age like milk, especially cause arguably Stutzle was even better than Matthews last season. He will also be a much more cost effective center and had one of the best contracts in the league last year for points for dollar. His contract this year is also way under the going rate for a top 20 player in the league.

Just a little reminder that Stutzle had more points than Matthews last year as a 21 year old. He was also 9 points back of Marner and a top 20 scorer league wide. He also played the PK ( On a Top 15 PK) which is something that Matthews doesn't do. So next time maybe look at some basic facts before slandering on opinions.

I would just let him go at the end of his contract this year instead of taking on Joseph's contract. As for Brannstrom, I don't care. He can skate past an entire team, but at the end of the day if he ends a season with 2 goals and 18 points that skill doesn't add up to much. If he's so solid you keep him. And talking about sweeteners, where is the sweetener for taking on Joseph's horrible contract? <strong>Let me guess, he is solid too and doesn't need any sugar</strong>.</div></div>
He doesn't need much, he's still very young with a Stanley Cup ring to his name and is coming off a career worst year in shooting percentage. My guess is that the Sens will trade him to the Blackhawks similar to the Taylor Hall trade so that there is more insulation around Bedard. Possibly Joseph for a league min roster player with picks balancing either way. Also, if you look at Brannstrom's advanced stats and defensive stats he was the best defensemen on the Sens last season and one of the better ones in the league.

Brannstrom is a very solid player with a lot of upside. You would know that if you watched him skate through teams next year. Also you're not going to be able to get Lablanc off your books without retaining and/or adding a sweetner. He's just not good enough.

It's kinda reminds me of the Leafs overpaying for years at TDL for rental.s. All those trades, trading away all those draft picks, just for one playoff round win.</div></div>
The big difference is that these players have multiple years of team control, and they can still recoup some assets by trading the player ala DeBrincat.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jal</b></div><div>Brodie is a decent but not among the top 4 defensemen on a strong team, let alone the Sabres.
The top 4 defensemen for the Sabres are Dahlin, Samuelsson, Clifton, and Powers.
Brodie would likely be a substitute player if any of these top 4 defensemen were injured. Additionally, the Sabres also have Johnson, Lyubushkin, and Bryson, all of whom have comparable statistics. So I could see Brodie sitting or on the 3rd line if he was on the sabres.
Regarding placing Murray on LTIR, I find it frustrating that this league allows teams to exploit the LTIR provision for "injured" players. It's time to reconsider the rules to prevent teams from bending or even cheating the system. Whatever happened to integrity and honesty, both in the workplace and in life? It's essential to uphold fair play and transparency.</div></div>
Brodie would pretty much be a top 4 D on almost every team in the league. He would also be a more stabilizing presence for either Dahlin and Power allowing them to become more offensive. Also Vlifton is more of a third pairing defensemen who can play up in the event of injuries, but he shouldn’t be trusted long term.

Yes but the Sens aren’t there. I see the DeBrinvat and Chychrun trades as trying to add core pieces to your roster. In that with Jarventie, Sokolov, and Grief the Sens have pieces that can play a similar role. Plus at this point it’s just not smart to invest more assets other than cash into the forward group.

Big swings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Knuckl3s</b></div><div>That's the previous regime's fault, not the current regime's. FFS, people need to start being able to separate the wrong-doings of the previous regime that was here and give the new regime the fair shake that they deserve. The new regime was dealt an atrocious hand being brought in mid-season of 21-22, so being able to unload salary without severely compromising the team's long-term future was going to have to wait a little bit. They could buy out OEL in 2022 because he was due a signing bonus, but since he wasn't owed anymore signing bonus money after that, they could buy him out in 2023. I understand many have questioned why new management spent cap space before they could clear it, but it's important to understand HOW they spent it. They didn't commit cap space to luxury or redundant pieces, they spent it on players who actually fill obvious spots on the roster and play well-defined roles for the team. J.T. Miller's slow start to last season was an issue of lacking accountability and standard of excellence, that's a discussion point for another time however, but Rick Tocchet does seem to have a better handle on how to motivate players and make them accountable than Boudreau ever did. As for player development, there is a REASON that management beefed up the staff assigned to fostering the upbringing of up and coming talent in the organization, because it obviously wasn't good enough before, so we have to give them at least 2-3 years worth of runway before we can assess the fruits of their labor, so no more bagging on the organization's player development until then</div></div>
That’s fair, however very few front office groups get to leave on their own terms. One thing that has hurt the Canucks in that regard is lack of stability from the top down. It’s incredibly hard to get a role on a team when you’ve had three staright seasons with new coaches. That doesn’t lend itself to success especially for the development of young players in the NHL. We’ll see if Tochet can change that narrative, and if he doesn’t there is something fundamentally wrong with the roster.

They traded away two firsts for Chychrun for what? One more year to try and make the playoffs in 2025. With some many teams at the cap, don't you think could have found a competent Dman for 4.6m?</div></div>
No, that was the entire point of the argument that you skipped over. The Sens needed to augment their blue line and they got a guy with control for two seasons. Plus they only really have away two seconds along with that first. Instead of any roster players or prospects who are known. Also trading Chrchrun was to get better. He’s from Ottawa and might be inclined to sign there

Gee, giving a two first for Chychrun may may not work at well either. Finished out of the playoff in the first half season with Chychrun. Now could the Sens found a competent 4.6m in free agency this season this summer and kept those two first rounders?. I think so.
Looks like Dorion certainly rushed the reboot when things were going so well. And look at the lineup the Sens have.....at the cap,(with bonuses might be over) and likely still finish out of the playoffs.</div></div>
I don’t know what stuff you’re smoking if you think the Sens could have gotten a capable top 4 d at 4.6m, along with having the cap space to upgrade the goaltending and forward depth. He got the best defencemen on the market, who has team control. While still having the present cap space to make the group better. Case in point is that very few bins fida defencemen signed for less than 5.5-6m if they are top 4 calibure. Even bottom pairing and role defensemen such as Ghostibhere and Gudbransson are getting paid close to that threshold. In that market such a goal is unrealistic.

Only reason it was ever suggested is because he has a $0 buyout hit against this season, and with<strong> Murray on LTIR </strong>it's all but confirmed he's going nowhere short of an overpay via trade market or a massive massive trade by Treliving. He's a very effective defensive top 4 D, the fact that you have us paying to get rid of him AND you have a guy who would undoubtedly be in this top 4 sitting in the press box is utterly laughable. Leafs quite easily decline.</div></div>
Murray has to be hurt to go on LTIR, which he is not. And after the whole Kucherov scandal the league is probably strictly watching LTIR placements. The Leafs are also still way over the cap with a Murray buyout or a Murray LTIR stint, which is not going to last the entire season.
